Anyone in the Pomona area know if this shop is operating? I guess I'll find out in a couple weeks when I'm at the LARS.
Mr. Walden responded to my most recent e-mail. Not the response I needed but hopefully a good outcome down the road? His products are top of the line. His Kinmont brakes the best detail wise but he's having a struggle getting them across the finish line.
I've had them along side with Johnson's and while Johnson is the current leader the incredible detail on Walden's is very close to the originals. Alchemy go to the Walden web site and watch the 4 minute video about his brakes and you'll see what I mean. Walden will probably never catch Johnson but I'm going to keep waiting. I'm certainly not demeaning Johnson by any means. The sheer number of his brakes on the top cars says a lot.
I think there was a post on here recently stating Bobby had taken a job with BMW in Los Angeles? Perks included health insurance, good pay etc. Post also stated Bobby would be at the shop on weekends and days off filling orders. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Few shops who make something with that many pieces and possibly a bit complicated do every part of it in house. CKH's comment means things have slowed down production wise a lot and he is working his way through the list but it may also be that that order for a hundred or two hundred pieces for the kits that was sent to a CNC production shop that he has used successfully in the past got sluffed for a 50,000 piece run that promises a lot more money.
That’s good news. I’m guessing a refund was the best option for both of you. I’m sure you were both equally frustrated with not being able to complete the kits. He is probably sitting on a sizable investment in kit components that are worthless without all the pieces.
Buck: I'm a gambler, I decided to have faith in my fellow man and ride this out. I have complete front kits. I showed a picture of the rear rotors to a very good local machine shop who said he was competent he could turn them out of steel stock he has. He also has the ability to get them ground and heat treated. That is of course a last resort if all else (WALDEN) fails. When I'm at his shop in Pomona later this week I'm going to take some very precise measurements plus some pictures for reference. I'll make the rears happen no matter what. With my health problems I'm running about 3-4 months behind schedule so there's some time.
Krylon, give them a call on Monday, they can send you a catalog that has a spec sheet to fill out for custom rotors, quite reasonable on the price, unless your trying to stop the space shuttle,
good deal, I used a lot of their stuff from my Cobra / Cheetah / stock car building days, xelent quality, I hope they can help you out
