My take on this is that it takes time and patience to learn to shape metal on a Yoder hammer or
an English wheel. A sedan roof panel would probably take 2 people. If shaping metal were easy,
there would be many more shops doing it. Where would you even get your hands on Yoder hammer?
You only have to buy a quality part once.

 

Everything's cool with my brake order. Picked the remaining parts during the LARS. I agree with ckh.

 

Cool Beans, Good to see that you finally have all the pieces.
Still it is a lot better all around if one is making anything to sell and has orders and has issues getting said items completed for one reason or another to simply send a quick update on what is going on and why the part isn't done.
Years ago I ordered a drag link and rod ends from a rod shop and weeks later they hadn't showed up and when the guy who ordered them for me called he got the "OH the guy who makes that part was on a month long vacation but he is back at work now. Sure enough a couple of days later the part showed up.

 

You missed the point, as a small business owner don't overpromise and under deliver. The issue was never about the craft and time it takes.

If he told me it was going to take a year I would have waited a year.

 

14 months - from telling you they were ready to ship, until you got them, - that is a long time between.
