Anybody have any insight on Walter Kowalsky and the 32 Ford B400 and Vicky conversions he did ? I am in the process of buying a Vicky that was converted from a sedan.
I had Walters 3rd or 4th B400 conversion. He took basically a body shell and made it into a B400. He did a really good job. I had him chop the top 1.5 inches. He did the metal work the body required as I requested it. Doors fit good, garnish moldings were well done. at that time he didn't make the trim panels that go above the door which I think he now does. I think he can now do the wood required. Only thing I didn't like about mine was the floor he built. It lacked any resemblance of a stock 32 floor. I would have been happier with a Brookville coupe/roadster replacement floor. I struggled with a windshield but got that covered. He did one for a friend Steve Hays in Illinois and it was spectacular, everything was much more refined than mine but that comes with experience and a higher price. I ended up selling mine to a man in Wisconsin who added the top irons, top wood and sheet metal, Then it went to CA where it sat for a while then to Texas where it was finished by a real craftsman. It's Black with a black top and gets them guessing with the chopped top. Walter has came a long way since he did mine probably 20 years ago. On another note I have never seen his Vicky conversion but I have seen some of his other work and it's good.
Thanks for the info. I will post pics when I get the car in the spring. I did a quick google search and found 2 hits on him, one on the HAMB of a B400 in progress and another of a finished car.
It’s an original frame that has had some work for the drive train. I have another original frame as well that I drilled out the rivets, removed the 3 cross members, so it could be straightened out in a jig that I will be selling.
