So an old movie comes up on TV tonight. The Joe Louis Story. And during the opening credits I see the producer listed as Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. Now I know a little bit about Walter, Sr., but I don't think I've ever heard anything about W.P.C., Junior. So of course a bit of Googling was in order. Sometimes it's good to follow your nose. Walter, Jr., it turns out was a businessman in his own right as well as a well known art collector and producer of plays and movies. Here's a link to a bit of his story. http://www.chapmansmill.org/history/WalterChrysler.htm And as it turns out, his father had two one-off custom Imperials built during the height of the depression. The Imperial Speedster pictured below was given to his son. It was apparently considered to be compe***ion to cars like the Auburn Speedster. It was a gorgeous car, of course, with lots of wonderful little custom touches that might still look right at home on a more modern build. Here's a link to an article with more info about the history of the Imperial Speedster and more photos. http://www.imperialclub.com/Articles/32CarCollector/index.htm
Thanx! I was thinking about bumping this thread, but as long as somebody found it... Just got looking again at the top picture of the interior and realized that the wiper motors are exposed on the dash. Sounds kind of funky but when you've got a matched pair of them, and they're chromed, it don't look too bad!
Outstanding car! I'd sure like to see the Prescott Brown color. Looks to have a reddish haze. Very pretty on the 'puter screen. Bill
