I would love to do an event based on that show, but there really isn't a good venue like that around us.

Thats true dave, this year was not the norm , but it seems that after stafford, lake compounce ,people are itching to get out , if the weather was good, a show just after compounce and before the rumblers would be cool and it would fill that dead spot till the rumblers , -just a thought totally up to derrik and his crew--joe

This is always how I feel. Swapmeets end early May, then we do the Jalopy Showdown, then it's Memorial Day weekend, then nothing (local at least) until the Rumblers show in Terryville. It's just when the weather gets nice (sometimes) and everyone is fresh with the car scene. By this time of the year or even earlier, people seem to lose their "spark". We're 90% sure it will be early June. We're going to try to lock in the date at the grounds
this weekend, then I can get some teaser fliers made up before the last couple events of the year. I still want ideas from you guys to make this good. Thanks-Derrick

  4. Hey derrick think it will be perfect timing the start of the season. Maybe the guys on long island can take the ferry over if its centrally located too.
Hey do you see what the czars and the town of decatur in Illinois are doing its like the whole town is behind them it will bring all kinds of business to the community.
That might be something you would look into. Or you can always take a blast down with us to really get a hands on feel for the event. Maybe chat with them to get some perspective on how to approach a city counsel.
Just another idea for your hat.
Oh yeah got to have vintage minibike racing

Derrick, It would be slick if you could get something going at the fields of the old Norwich State Hospital! The town of Preston now owns it and you might be able to do something with it! The place is HUGE and nobody does anything with it. I might be able to get you some phone numbers if you need them. Also very close to both casino's, close the long island ferry, many hotels, plus I live right up the road!

I appreciate the input, but we already have a venue picked out that's only a few miles from us right in the middle of the state. That would be a good location for something though, everybody loves the casinos.

Already talked to Squirm about not interfering with the Rumbler's show in Terryville and he gave me the go ahead. Our event in going to be June 11th 2011. Details soon. As far as your idea, I think it's cool but people are already complaining that it's too cold.

Much appreciated. Once we have all our sh*t together I'll shoot you a PM. We have pages full of ideas, now we have to narrow them down to the one's we think will work around here. Thanks-Derrick

Hey Derrick, I'll skip York to get to a cool traditional show :) How 'bout outside movie screen or is it really that cold up north the middle of June? I just saw a huge blow up screen at a local Mall and it was a cool idea. I think a lot of guys down here are getting tired of York. A bunch of us used to make the Rumblers show every year and had a great 10 hour trip to a great show. Let me know if I can help in anyway.
    See ya' next week.

We are actually going to be the week after York. Seems like many other people I talk to feel the same about going there. We thought about the movie deal, I already have a projector in my shop that plays DVDs, it's on our idea list. I'll fill you in on the details next week, looking foward to it.

Only other show I know of in June is the Connecticut Dragway Reunion in Wallingford, it's usually the Monday after father's day.
