Hot Rods Want to help

Hello everyone, Im brand new to the H.A.M.B. but have been stalking for quite a while from afar. I live in Los Angeles (close to LAX). I’ve had a few old VWs over the years, but would like to get more into American classics/hotrods. I would love the opportunity to help work on a classic project in the evenings just to help myself learn. I work full time but am very interested in learning as much as I can about building a hotrod or classic to hopefully do myself one day. so preferably someone fairly close. Might be a long shot, but if you or someone you know is building something close by, I would love to help out a couple nights a week.

 

If I was closer I would be all over this !!
I got a car
I got experience
I like teaching people what I know
But I have almost 0 motivation to work on my car once I’m home.
If I could help teach you and with you coming by and helping me, would give both of us the motivation to well, learn and do shit!
Kinda a no brainer.

Ditto....I'm sure someone will hook you up..heck , that's how I got started...

 

Inquire 'close' to home, there will be a builder who could use a second pair of hands, esp. an appreciating listener. I'd look for someone who either welds up, or at least knows how to modify frame/suspension details.

 

Thank you for the input guys. Makes me feel like this is possible. Haha. Pitman, is there somewhere on the H.A.M.B. that’s ‘close’ to home? Or you just meant find a local avenue? Thanks again guys.

There is an antique car museum in El Segundo that specializes in drivable cars (https://www.automobiledrivingmuseum.org). I wonder if you could volunteer there?

Thank you Charlie. I have been before... Super close but looking for more hands on, technical work. My areas a bit tough, traditional hotrods seem fairly rare :/ but hopefully I can find something.
