  5. That's pretty cool looking! They must have maxed out the front suspension, I don't see a straight axle and its sitting pretty high!

Yeah,I believe they may have extended the spindles and used a long-ass spring and/or a pretty sizeable coil spacer in there,as the car never did run a beam or tube axle.

Who said there were no offical Falcon A/FX cars LOL.

Ford R&D guru and factory driver Dick Brannan talked about the background of the two "factory" '64 427 Falcons. "In the late Winter/early Spring of 1964, we could see the handwriting on the wall-we were going to need something lighter than the Thunderbolt Fairlane. We knew the Mustang would be the answer, but couldn't get one at the time. So being that the Falcon shared so much in common, we decided to build one as a development car." A maroon '64 Falcon hardtop was delivered to the subcontractor of the T-bolt project, Dearborn Steel Tubing (DST), where revisions and fitment of a 427 High Riser commenced. Fiberglass hoods, fenders, doors, and bumpers were part of the program, as were other typical T-bolt modifications. "We were about 90 percent done, when Phil Bonner dropped in on a visit from Georgia. He liked the idea of the Falcon so much he went back home and began to build one himself." Soon, it was decided that DST should build the Bonner car as well, so the light blue hardtop went to Detroit to become the second factory 427 Falcon. Among many wins, Bonner would score a trifecta in class, Top Stock, and Stock Eliminator at the 1964 AHRA Nationals in Green Valley, Texas, while Brannan won S/SX at the AHRA Summernats.

Romy Hammes A/FX falcon In 1964, Ford Special Vehicles and DST built this one-off 427 wedge engine Falcon. (Not quite see above and below)

  20. Anyone have any engine compartment shots of 427 Falcons without a straight axel? Maybe Brennan, Bonner, White Lighting or even the Georgia shaker before the straight axel? I'm working on something and wanted some for reference

New one I have never seen before

Johnnie Eggleton's "White Lightning Jr." 427 Falcon A/FX driven by W.L. "Frog" Herring. Frog's axle broke on this pass and the car did a nice quick rollover. He wasn't hurt but the car was bent pretty bad. This was at Wichita Falls Dragway, Texas

    see email.JPG

W.L. "Frog" Herring was driving the White Lightning Jr. 427 Falcon when a rear axle snapped causing him to roll the car twice. He wasn't hurt but the car sure was.

    email.JPG

Fritz Callier in his very famous and very rare Chevy II Fastback 427 under the CKC Racing banner takes on W.L. "Frog" Herring in the White Lightning Jr. 427 Ford Falcon. They are just getting their tires warmed up before they launch.
