Crappy deal. As a body shop estimator I've heard more than one story similar to this one. The wildest one was a gay male couple from Tel Aviv ran into a parked car while here in Portland adopting a baby. I still shake my head every time I think about it. The victim saw everything happen and confronted the "couple". Information was exchanged which turned out to be bogus. Fortunately the victim was able to track down liability through the rental car agency but the process took 2 months. Don't give up dude. He can't be that hard to track down in this town, I kinda doubt he'll show his face next Wednesday night. I was there with Marty Strode that night and we were both commenting on how they pack the cars in but your on your own to get out.

I'd hang a big sign at the entrance asking for pictures that someone may have taken of the episode. Of the thousand plus people that attend every Wednesday, I'll bet there are some some pictures available. You could also ask the red headed girl who runs the event to make an announcement on stage.

I gotta say that I love the HAMB brotherhood. As fate would have it, I played a bit o golf at Broadmoor today and the state of Oregon was gracious enough to give me the money I need to repair douche bags damage via the Oregon lottery machines in the bar. Bad still on him but the good tax paying citizen's of Oregon bailed me out.

For the t-birds driver; may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your loin cloth. 7 Virgins, I seriously doubt it.

...Still would like a few words with this bird brained moron.

  4. The police usually take hit and run seriously. Can they search for local Birds in their data base? It might help narrow it down but I think the '56 was the only year with the Continental Kit in the rear from the factory. I think it was an option in the other two years but probably not very common. You might check body shops and chrome shops if you think there was damage to his vehicle.

  5. In addition to pictures of the episode see if anyone might have pictures of the car (hopefully showing the license plate). If It was a nice Bird someone may have photographed it.

Good thought Charlie; start doing an on line image search of the Cruise. Sometimes guys will shoot several hundred photos at a show and upload them.

  8. You hope the paint on his bumper matches the paint on your car.

Later today we're having a funeral for a young man (32 years old) who caught some guys breaking into his house. They jumped into their vehicle and ran. He chased them and when he caught them, they killed him. So far they have only been charged with breaking and entering........... Hopefully that will change. They are claiming it was self defense. Personally I hope they get out and some of the victims pals can get to them. My point? He'd have been much better off if he hadn't caught them.

You didn't say if you had to register for the cruise. Maybe the promoter would the information on the person if he filled out a form. Just a thought.

  11. That is correct, and that should help to narrow down the list of suspects. Someone must have a list of the entries, and there probably aren't many black '56 Birds on it.

Did you get the name and phone number of the person who saw the T-Bird hit your Camaro? If not you're going to have a tough time proving the guy did it assuming you even find him. Good luck....

Not trying to rain on any parades....but all of this ASSUMES it was really a black 5x t-bird and not [for instance] a 62 chev 4x4with black bumpers!! Stranger things have happened. Wish you luck in catching the turd though.

  15. I'd take a wild guess and say it was a wanna-be and not a real car person (though alcohol can change personalities) Maybe check car dealers, like the ones who deal in old cars, like that asswipe monkey drunk on tv

  16. I don't know what type of event this was but they may have insurance coverage, or was this just a cruise in type thing?

Thanks for the idears fellas. This is a weekly event in the summer, no registration. They used to have a photg at the entrance taking pics of the cars and selling them but that was years ago. Be handy now though.

I agree that taking matters into your own hands is best left to movies and the wild west but it would sure feel good. I have a bit of a temper, my father always warned me against acting on it. Stripes make me look fat anyway and I'm not very svelte the way it is.

Remember that scene from the Christmas Story where the teacher is bawling out the classmates that triple dog dared the flag pole licker? She said something to the effect "he who did it knows his blame and that's a worse fate then any punishment he might receive". Ralphie narrated that adults always said that kind of stuff but he knew it always better to get away with it. I'm gonna call this t-bird driver Ralphie from now on.

So Ralphie, if your out there, grow up, man up and pay up.
