Hi Everybody. Im from South Africa and been lurking around on the forum for a while reading up on some very nice builds. Decided to register as it was time to get the '54 Chevy 3100 Pickup a fresh new look... Ive done the usual "guy" thing and built too many custom sound installs and bidykits for the newer generation cars and just never stop playing with fiberglass and recently started with Carbon Fiber too. My other skills need to be fine tuned for building this bad boy. Got pretty much 80% of tools and equipment to do what I want but still require a few odds and ends. This is what it looked like before I started... The car was standing for about 5 years in a workshop basement before I went to go and collect it. Still original straight 6 motor and all stock from front to back excluding the wheels... Basically I want to do a classic look with a bit of a modern twist. Full build thread to follow soon...
Hi. Looks great. Pretty classic & a bit modern with the wheels and diamond plate. It should have 235 inline engine and that is a great base motor to build up if you want to stay with a 6. My avatar photo is a 1957 Inline Chevy 250 installed in my 46 Coupe. This engine is bored 0.060 with a 268 grind cam, dual 2 barrel Weber carb's & tube headers to dual exhaust. Running original 3 on the column with a 355 ratio pickup ring & pinion instead of original 411 gears. It scoots down the road with the traffic at legal Hwy speeds quite well. Post more photo's & start a build thread on the hokey ass message board when you get started. Good luck, Jim
Thanks man. Well that was what it looked like when I got her, and didnt like the color or the look of it, so hence the new build. As for the motor, we already have a 305 Small block V8, but will be keeping the 6 for something else later. I will get my pics ready and start the build thread soon... Thank you and I know I will.
