With the way the weather has been around the country, all that hype about Global Warming is just that, hype, a hoax.

Man you guys got it bad.....Better to be safe than sorry. It must be globle whatever. We only have cold air. No ice or snow. I won"t be looking for it when it gets here. Maybe it"s not coming this year. Good luck you guys.....Brian

I drove through that one the whole way up.

Kentucky DOTwas keeping one lane cleared until they got to the Louisville city limits and then I guess it was Louisville's problem...but Louisville wasn't plowing. Snow was 6-10" deep on the interstate! Nobody was playing follow the leader, they were all trying to pick their own lines. The criss-crossing ruts made driving really fun!!!!!

The 8 hr drive took 14 hrs.

Just checked the TNDOT site, looks like Nashville is pretty much done.

It was sleeting / snowing pretty heavy in Huntsville a couple hours ago, we had ice piling up on the buildings. It warmed up a fuz since then and now it's all rain.

Stuck at work waiting on a truck that has to come through Nashville.

Hey is that a real "meyer's Manx" on that trailer, I have two of them. And as far as the worst winter in 30 years go's hell here in ohio it's been nice, only like 12* today and sunny and only about 3ft of snow so far this year. LOL:D So it's a good winter for us.;)

Oh really? Well I've been driving up North for 38 years and I say you are RIGHT! ;)

Snow we could handle if "super drivers" in their invincible SUV's would just stay the Hell at home but like you said "ice is ice", just keep your butt where it is until it melts.

Global warming = more extremes ...

Hotter summers, Colder winter. A heck of more storms when in season, etc, etc.

What kind of '37 Chevy is that? It looks like a coupe, but the area above the rear window looks too square. Is it just the angle making it look weird?

  17. We are about 40 miles due North of I 40. Started sleeting yesterday about dark. And now we have snow on top. Everything is shut down.

Thanks for the pics. I guess it was just the angle. It looks like a normal '37 coupe in those shots.

I circled the part that looked odd to me.

    Oh YES we can!
I have been driving on ice for almost 50 years. Up here we drive on lakes!

I am prepared for winter driving. I have two four wheel drive vehicles with good winter tires. I see photos of the idiots sliding down a hill with the brakes locked, yes the road may be solid ice but the sholder is gravel and gives you some traction and with the brakes locked you have no control.

I live on a hill that many people have trouble climbing, but I have even pulled Cadilacs up it with my jeep. My biggest concern driving on ice is the other guy, you never know what they are going to do.

I haven't talked to him in a long time. Did he get the '31 registered? I know he was having trouble.

Don't be a dipshit. We have ICE storms, you get primarily snowstorms. There is a HUGE difference. I grew up in snow country, and this IS different. Plus, since we get so little snow, there is far less snow and ice-removal equipment here, so the Interstates and the primarily urban snow routes are the ONLY roads that see plows and salt/sand equipment. I'd much rather deal with five feet of snow than an inch or two of ice, any fuckin' day of the week.

Plus, I've seen some of those 200-car pileups in the snow in Iowa, where you alleged "winter driving experts" reside. What, you mean, they DO close the roads up where you are this time of the year? Seems this past Christmas, your entire State was closed, due to the roads and the weather, as were the Dakotas and Minnesota. And even Montana. Last I heard, they are States that are "fully equipped" for that kinda shit...Meh.

  25. Glenn,

    He didn't mention any issues.
I think he is working on getting it running right now.
    Sounded happy on the phone.

It isn't so bad here. These ice storms, like tornados, are very transient. Whereas, in Ohio, the snow hangs on forever and ever. We can ride bikes here nearly year-round, same with having the convertible top down. We get two big ice storms per Winter. This is number two. It'll all be gone in a few short days.

That depends on which experts are doing the talking. Many say global warming means warmer winters and cooler summers due to the "green house" effect caused by CO2 and other pollutants. Since the glaciers have been retreating for several thousand years I suspect whatever it is it's due to natural causes. If we could go back a few thousand years the records set at Bonneville would be in boats instead of cars.
