Man o life! that blows, a couple of guys around here had shop fires in the past also, one guy had a car on a lift and it got so hot the lift collapsed on the car, the other one took 4 street rods with it, but they were only more common cars! nothing like the priceless stuff that was in that shop, i couldnt tell what they were, but i could tell some were aluminum, oh man.

Ok I dont wanna be a jerk about this but is there any 33 grills in the mess you can pick out and sell? I really hate to hear that there were any cars damaged and the pics are very depressing.

hey, sorry for the depressing post. the last thing i want to do is depress the hamb. all im saying is be carefull with what you do,, wiring, grinding, welding, chemicals etc. its worth it to be cautious by going the extra step to prevent what ever may or may not happen. once its gone your are left with a huge mess,,, burnt cars, car owners, cleanup, mental health, insurance, investigations, law suits etc

Those photos bring back some awful memories for me. I lost a beautiful 47 Chevy convert to a shop fire a few years ago. Lighting hit the building and burned to the ground, 11 high dollar rides inside including 2 drag cars, a 1911 electric car and a couple of vintage motorcyles. 5 business in a row were completely destroyed. It was a huge, very hot fire, nothing was salavagable. I feel your pain, even though neither of the shops were owned by us, it still effects you deeply, and will for years.

I am truely sorry to hear the news [IMG]

This is a good time to take the opportunity to mention that everyone should check their insurance policies and make sure they are not only up to date, but have the coverages that you think they have. Not only for your hot rods but your homes and garages as well. Do you realize that if your hot rod inside your garage is not insured and your garage burns down, that the cars inside are NOT covered under your homeowners. Only vehicles used to maintain your property such as tractors and stuff are insured under homeowners. You need to have insurance on your cars seperatly, even if they are projects, if you want them covered in case of loss.

I can't add anything to what's already been said-other than to add my condolences. I know they are only cars, but shit most of those cars consumed by the fire will never be seen by anyone ever again. And that is really sad! I am especially saddened by the passing of another Packard. In my opinion, the best car ever produced in America (I'm not considering the Duesenberg which is the best car ever produced anywhere in the workld!). Very big bummer!!!
