ESAT online scanner is free and works very well, aloso the Microsoft Malicious Software Tool works. Do Windows Updates regularly, AND... no anti virus will be effective if you don't update virus signatures at least once a week! Malware Bytes doesn't update automatically, you must update the version/database yourself!
update the system software (freebie) to fix this and stop clicking through installers without thinking Not an urban myth, there is nothing out there for malware (as of now) that can install itself in your mac without you authorizing it or taking an extra step.
I have used this free version of "super antispyware" with good results on a few systems with excellent results http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html
I had a iMac G4 for a while. A short while. It was only three years old and maxed out with memory, but still wouldn't stream video at all. Mac's big thing is that software doesn't need updating as frequently, but in my experience, it was more frequent. I now use a $100 PC off of Craigslist and it can do ten times the things that the mac could do. I liked it for some things, like playing music and watching DVD's. It sits in my ba*****t now, basically a glorified iPod. It's doubtful that I'll ever buy another mac.
