Event Coverage Washington state Eastside VS Westside reliability run

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jadeidol, Jul 28, 2009.

  1. HA HA HA! now that's was funny!

NO OHV cars...even as spectators. Flathead or hitch a ride. You know, I've always wanted to build a flathead harley...

  2. Yes!! see, even some of the non-flathead dudes get it. And Yes, flathead Harleys/Indians RULE!

  3. I say dock 5 points off of a team that has a support vehicle. Lets make this a real deal, leave the commuter cars at home. Someone on either side will have access to a truck trailer back home if need be.
This sounds like a hoot! I'll be pumping it up over here for sure.
Hows about a campout in Vantage on the saturday night? Can someone set it up? Would be so killer to hang and shoot the sh!t around a fire late into the night.
About the date, make sure it doesn't conflict with the Arlington Drags?
    Can't wait!

  5. Hey, if everyone wants to axe out trouble cars, thats fine with me. We understand that it is a reliability run, and tow cars are kinnda wussy...but with lots of stock T's and A's, we figured why not. But if everyone thinks that they should dock points then we can do that.

I was thinking about an overnight thing. I have no idea of any camping around there, but how fun would that be? Bring your tent and some beers, crash and drive home in the morning?? Sounds cool to me, I'll work on it.

And the Arlington drags...when is that? Any events going on the 18th of Septemeber that should makes us re-think the date????

    Thanks y'all

I vote no factory overheads, spectator or otherwise, and you have to arrive under your own power. broken and towed in doesn't really count on a reliability run does it? bring spares and tools. i'll wait for ya. hopefully you wont be waiting for me. as far as modern transmissions go Marshall said the T-5 guys have to wear lipstick and skirts. come on, its like running the boston marathon wearing rollerblades. hey chris maybe we could make gas ration type window stickers that say W or
E to identify who's on what team. I'd leave mine in the window forever. WESTSIDE FOR LIFE

  9. Fuck Josh, thats a great idea on the ration stickers. I'll work on that too. I hate having rules on this thing, so we'll get together and fine tune everything so it's fair and fun for eveyone involed. Everything is up in the air right now, so I appriciate any and all input.

Josh, does your car even have a windshield :D

So 348's are allowed right?? after all when you look at the head they are about as flat as they can be, not like the old fords.

  12. I don't think the Arlington Reuinion would weigh in too much on anything. It's usually the 2nd weekend in September....and it sucks anyhow. (yes, I said it, it sucks).

This run being the 3rd weekend would be fine. Our poker run is the last weekend of the month, so no conflict there.

  13. I know the Swindlers are down. Fish's roadster and Pauls A coupe are in. (right paul? I mean come on, center seat, no front brakes, solid mounted axle...that should be fun). Perhaps another couple of cars in the works?

  14. Cool, we don't wanna step on any toes date wise, so as of now it looks pretty good.

Great Idea on the E/W "ration stickers". We could mail them out and finishers could get an additional 2010 finisher topper for it at Vantage. As far as the support vehicle following this isn't 1950 and there is some bad spots on I 90 to have to do a roadside fix. In some cases it would be better to haul to an offramp or something. Or haul them into Vantage to fix after the run. If the overnite deal flys, most anything could be repaired or arangements made to get the rig home or to a HAMB friendly site. Got to take a look at a few things on the roadster. I WANT one of those E finisher 2010 stickers. Great support for this. Thanks.

  17. Hey Moses, maybe we also need to have rules about the protest like
" Anyone involved in this protest has to wear red pants"!!
    LOL!!!
Fricking rules that break up traditional rods suck!!!!
Next thing will be a cruise that will only allow bias ply tires. I'd fit into that one.
Whats the point and where are the lines drawn. You shouldn't be able to run modern transmissions either if you are only allowing flatheads. God help you if you show up with disc brakes, alternators, 12 volt power . If its all about using the oldest powertrain, how about next we use horse and buggy.

I think I'll drive my RV and take up 12 spaces and just pretend to be some dumbass tourist that cant speak english. "Mas verban con voux condeich heichten der @#%%^ flatheads"!!! LOL!
Now where can I find myself some red pants!!!!! LOL!

  18. Hell ya Keith I am down. This eveint is going to be awesome!!

    Hey Chris,

I think you should only be able to get an E or W ration style sticker at the repective starting place from one of the organizers on the day of the event. And maybe I missed this but is there going to be a start time? I think either you call Steve or Steve calls you at like 8am and says go and we all head out 4 hours to get there. Not some butt yokel going urgh I left at 4am hahaha...Bullshit. We should start shotgun style and go. Just my two cents...

There's a campground at the gorge. As long as there's no concerts it will probably be empty. Oh yeah and the Canadians should get N's.

  20. There is a KOA in Vantage. Very nice have stayed there a few times.

So, anyone got a spare flathead laying around? I'm sure I've got something around here to trade...:D

  22. I think a support vechile would be a great idea for both sides because as much fun as everyone is going to have racing to vantage in the morning. There's the return trip everyone must make that we should keep in mind.

One thing to possibly consider for the Westies about a support vehicle. Near the summit, it can get a little steep, and some of those flatties (especially the 4 bangers) will be traveling a little slow. Even if you're in the right lane, some jackass speeding around the corner in his F250 in the right lane will come up on you pretty quick and if there's someone in the next lane he might not be able to pass easily. Might want someone with flashers following just in case.

All the OHV people can meet in Ellensburg until the count is over with. So then they won't cost anyone any points. Then the Flatties can roll over there and meet.

Were it me organizing the thingie with all the interest from the non flathead folks, I might consider running two divisions from each direction, whith the non flatheads starting 10 minutes after the last flatty leaves, and do a 3 to 1 points thing where 3 ohv cars count as one arrival. Just a thought as you go forward.
