Water flow restrictor

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Frenchy Dehoux, May 25, 2009.

  1. Where is the best place to install the washer with a 3/4 diameter hole to slow down the water flow to the radiator. At the bottom near the head or at the top near the radiator.

    Please let me know

    Thanks !!!

If it has a thermostat, put it where the thermostat goes. Most time you can take the guts out of the thermostat and it will run cool enough. Top hose is usually pressure so it needs to go there. Bottom hose is suction and could cause problems if you restricted the flow. Are you bypassing the heater core? If you are bypassing the heater core with a hose, place a restrictor (washer) in that hose also.

Take out the thermostat and put it in there.

  4. Why are you not running a thermostat?

  5. I have the restrictor washer in the upper hoses of the block and near the radiator or should they be lower near the head or does it make a difference.

    Thanks !!!!
