I am running a vintage air A/C unit on my 50 flatty. I have offy heads. My problem is the hot water flows through my heater all the time...asked vintage air about it and they said I must have the flow backwords.....I have the hot water heater valve inlet piped from the tap in the center top of the head....through the heater valve and core and back into the water pump tap...is this correct? I am ***uming the water pump tap is on the suction side of the water pump...
The suction side of the water pumps are connected directly to the radiator bottom tank. Your heater piping connection sounds ok, but your heater control valve may be set or stuck open, which allows hot water to circulate thru the core all the time. Remove the operating cable from the control valve and see if you can move the arm be hand, but the only real way to know is to remove it and look inside-it's kind of like a thermostat for the heater and they can seize up. If so, Shoebox Ford rebuilds them reasonably.
thanks for the feedback....I believe I don't have a cable, as this unit has a control module on top.but I will remove the lines as see if the valve is stuck open...now that it appears it is piped correctly,
