Can anybody ID this water temp sending unit? Has a stud and nut for an eye terminal. Goes to Classic Instruments Quad temp gauge like this. PO installed in my 40. Surely it can’t be proprietary. Got a brand and part number? I would like to buy local. Is it just a standard GM/SBC piece? It looks like a Standard TS-388, but I don’t know ohms. The old one was on the blown up flathead (wrong thread size) and it’s gone away. Speedy Bill has them for $31.45 plus shipping. That seems f’ing crazy! Maybe not. Thanks!
The $ 20.00 senders I buy from the local parts house usually start leaking after a month. I would spend the bucks and get classic instruments. Jmo. If you need it send me a pm and I will measure the ohms on mine.. I have the oil and temp from classic.
Maybe have a look through the Stewart-Warner temp senders here?: https://www.stewartwarner.com/product-category/senders/?index=1 Might be tough without knowing the resistance range of the gauges, but I bet that info could be found online.
Classic instruments # SN25 for 1/2" pipe thread SN24 for 3/8" pipe thread I'd suggest buying the Classic Instuments sender recommended for your gauge. I don't know how to get a correct/accurate cross reference to Standard Motor Products.
Thanks! Checking the CI SN-25 online and on that auction site, it looks Iike it’s pretty much the same price everywhere. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
