anybody have any experience with this stuff, does it actually work? Having trouble with my 57 T-Bird
running hot, seems to be a problem with these small birds, I've done all the obvious things, rad, water pump, thermostat, rad cap etc. really don't want to put a electric fan in there as the car is original, bone stock.

Yes I used it for a number of years in the race car but went back to normal anti-freeze/water. It seemed good at protecting from corrosion but leaves a s***my deposit over everything. Especially if you pop an hose or the like. All the claims about running cooler are snake oil in my opinion though. Same for every one of the waterless coolants. The coolant runs cooler but that’s because it takes less heat out of the engine. Water has the highest specific heat capacity of any liquid you would want to put in your car.

As mentioned above , I found it has a corrosive effect from the residue it leaves. I had a galvanized pan sitting on my (clean) steel bench with some Water Wetter between them and it dried leaving a nasty film between the two. I would p*** on using it .

I've heard that dishwashing liquid does as good of a job as water wetter. I dumped a bottle of WW in a car that ran hot. Added a high volume water pump and thermostat at the same time. None of it helped.

  6. I have to agree with others. I tried it on my '37 Cadillac and I did not notice any improvement.

I have used a few different versions of coolant additive including Water Wetter and not a single one has made any measurable difference in temperature in any situation.

On the Bird running hot , have you checked the vacuum advance ? That’s all you got on a Y block .

Tried it twice in my Olds engine, once after doing a system flush, using 60/40 mix .
NO difference whatsoever. Shoulda spent the $12. bucks on beer.

  10. Water Wetter works by leaving a film on the internal surfaces of the radiator, water pump, hoses, coolant p***ages, etc. This film reduces surface tension so the water/coolant molecules glide over it easier, thus, increasing flow and lowering friction/heat.

Most people think it's a miracle in a bottle for a cooling system issue, they pour it in, it doesn't fix their issue, so they say the product doesn't work. That's not what it's made for. Think of it like RainX for your cooling system.

Well, I would think of it like that, except that rain-x works, and water wetter doesn't.
