Hey Cabong A local striper is coming over tomorrow and he was talking about a guy flying him up to your area for a striping job, maybe he could do your car too on the same trip Call Bob Coslett at 805 341 1553 DND
I like it better than the elky, No disrespect to Watson or Chevrolet but a big thumbs up to you. You decided on a stripe color yet?
A 1958 Ford with a '57 front clip, with dual headlights, with Watson style paint motifs, and set up for racing at Firebird. Now ain't that special!
That's a pretty straight forward stripe job....a guy that does a lot of dealership work could whip that out with a bueglar pretty quick. If ya run out of options contact a shop and ask who does your stripe work. Good luck and let's see some pics when it's done
Still haven't taken it out of the booth, as it needs a little respray in one spot. That will be done today or tomorrow. I have a young pinstriper lined up to take a look at the critter. It's a little tough, as the lines will be pretty wide. Ironically, he goes by Shakey.
Hey LowB, it's irony in more ways than one. Shakey Jake from SoCal was a very good friend, up 'till he passed. He was as good a man as you could find, had a heart as big as a house. He stripped the Dream Truck for me, the last time I painted it. I did it in straight white pearl with no scallops. He found out that I had done it done there, so he caught up with me and asked if he could stripe it. Absolutely, and tossed him the key. He brought it back a week later, and man what a sight. As he put it, "I did the front like Dean Jeffries, since he did it the first time", then the top and sides I did like Von Dutch, since he did it the second time". Then with big 'ol tears he told me the back was his own design, to incorporate all the memories he had of the Truck. You see, he said, Gary Emory and I used to play hot rodder in that bugger when it was still on a pallet at Valley Custom. He told me that he should pay for the opportunity to work on it. I told the lad that he had a hell of reputation to live up to, and I damn sure expected it to be done accordingly........ When Shakey did the Truck, and the "tailgate" he painted in very small letters....."Old Shakey Jake, still alive in '85".
I was going to bring up him name , and what a neat story and how its such a small world at times !!!!!!!!!! Its amazing how everything is so cross linked in this crazy gearhead world we line in and love so much !!!!!!!! DND
Thanks Brad. I'm not sure if it's good or bad, but as we get much older, seems we have more stories to tell.
I'll meet with the young "Shakey" next week, to check him out........ Stay tuned for more pictures later today........
A couple more shot.....Still have put'n together to do...Then pinstripe........Some of the trim is not yet tightened down. The striping color is pretty critical........suggestions please !!!!!
How about some fish scales in that side opening with same color (blue, purple and/or silver metalic?) striping pulling it all together? ?????????????? Just mainly throwing something out there to give you a bump, but seriously, a good artist could make something like this work or better yet a real good pinstriper/artist would already have an idea of what would work well.
