Have any of you guys "accidently discovered" that a certain wax-polish will make a satin-flat paint color "brighten-jump out" without leaving a white residue or streak? Thanks

I found out that Thompsons Water Seal does that. I put it on the wood, and then discovered it helped the faded old paint as well.

    Hello,
Here is the post from another thread that gives an option for your paint. The solid paste wax product does not take much to make anything stay shiny. The liquids are not as strong and may give you what you are looking for in the car surface.

You don't need to use the brand name automotive companies we have seen in magazines or TV ads. The above product, Collinite, speaks for itself in any application. YRMV

Be warned polishing or adding any type of wax that takes any sort of polishing motion on a flat or matte finished car will always add more shine to the paint. That is the nature of matte finishes they will polish to a higher gloss than they are sprayed and remain that way. If you don't want to change the look of your finish don't polish or use any type of paste wax that requires polishing.

Fellas have been known to use a cheap sub in “Pledge” dust spray to up a satin paint sheen BUT just know if you do and ever plan to repaint the car, you will have to strip it.

Wax and grease remover doesn’t always remove it 100% which can wreak havoc on re- paints.

Just a FYI from fellas sharing info over the years.
