    Hello,

My wife and I just came back from a feeling good day on a bright sunny day at the beach. Well, we were at the beach watching the newly forming swell and the good surfers trying to do their best. As we were sitting there, we realized that it is “Spring Break” or for the old folks, “Easter Vacation.”

The name change was so public schools did not offend any groups that did not acknowledge any connotations associated with the original naming of the week long vacation. It was afforded all public and private schools in March or April. For us, it was a week long vacation in Baja, Mexico for great surf spots and privacy afforded the traveling surfers. Who needed Fort Lauderdale, when the surf spots in Baja, Mexico made big, consistent waves while the East coast had barely ripples lapping the ankles?

As we were watching the waves and relaxing, a young couple from The University of Arizona rolled up on their portion of Spring Break and had a nice picnic lunch overlooking the blue ocean + great waves in So Cal. It was one of the only sunny days all week and it just brightened everyone’s day. Ahh, memories of Spring Break as college juniors and senior years… a great time to be involved.

On the road back home, a couple of folks in a 1937 Chevy 4 door two toned sedan came rolling by with smiles on their faces. It was either the great driving weather in a cool hot rod/cruiser or they just got out for their lunch hour.

    Hey G,
Thanks for the correction... We were double parked and there were several cars waiting to get out of the parking lot. So, I did not take other photos of the truck. We saw it again and it did have a Chevy emblem on the hood. To us old folks, they are similar in looks and style.

Thank you for pointing it out. It is an unusual place to see old hot rods parked in a one way parking lot. It must be one of the owners of the businesses located there. The next time we saw it, there were plenty of parking spaces for us.

In further research, it is a 36 as the 34 and 35 look similar, but have vertical louvers in the side panel of the hood.

    Hello,

When we were little kids, the 1949-52 Chevy sedans were a common vehicles for small families. They had style and were fairly economical for most families. On our block in the Westside of Long Beach, we had two Chevy sedans, a 51 and 52 sedans on our block. Right around the corner, our cousins had a 52 Chevy sedan with fender skirts.

Even with 4 lightweight ladies, the suspension was a little on the soft side… upon acceleration.

But, these pandemic blues days, to see a nice clean, well preserved 1952 Chevy sedan on the street and in a industrial tract made our day in recent times. So, we all like the whole cruising sedan, but we definitely like a nice rear end. YRMV

    Hello,

If the Mercury Comet taillights are not a choice for a custom tail light installation, how about a Mercury Meteor Sedan from Canada with some unusual cool looking taillights?

    Jnaki

These are from a 22 year owned, local So Cal Mercury Meteor sedan. The USA version of a 62 Comet
has its own style, but for single, cool, finned taillights, a Canadian Meteor is different.

Speaking of the rear view... have blue dots gone completely out of style? The rodding scene in general? You'd think the traditional guys would still be using them, eh?

I had the blue dots on 50Fraud very briefly. I like them on many cars, but they gave the shoebox a kind of creepy expression from the rear, and I took them off. I've had Lee's smooth lenses on it for more than 20 years now: DeuceOfSpades.JPG
