Not used to this mess down here in TN. This was my drive in today Probably made it all that much safer considering I was taking a pic while driving
that pic is in memphis. they got hit harder south of us in MS though I heard. We got 3-4 inches, some parts of MS got 8
yeppy here in knoxville and just north east in union co. we got it too. i get a day off without pay. oh boy. my boss's live on a hill and dont want to try to get there lexus off it , lol.
Yea, not so lucky here. Boss is always here, he lives 5 miles from work. I live bout 38 miles away, but he expects everyone here if he is. So if I stayed home, vacation day. Besides its quieter at work lol, there are 3 screamin kids at home!
Im in Flintville TN, south central part of the state about 5 miles north of Alabama. We got 6-9 inches of snow. Im on a state highway so the road has been salted and graded. The hard part is getting out of the driveway. Tried to move my 86 F150 but didnt want to tear it up over revving the engine or diff. My wifes Escape drove right out of it. I think the roof of my '55 was originally painted white but heres a new paint/snow scheme.
I'm in Decatur AL., about 35 mile from the TN state line. News stations report that we have 8" of snow here, looks like more to me but that is close.
HERES MY FOLDER OF PICS. IN ONE OF THE VIDEOS WITH ME AND MY DAUGHTER YOU CAN HERE MY WIFE GO OHH WHEN SHE THINKS WERE GOING IN THE CREEK. THIS IS ALL ON MY PLACE HERE http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa99/old_ladys_mad/snow%20day%201-10-2011/
Wow, I guess we from north of the Mason-Dixon line owe you guys an "AWWWWWW!" Man, you all have more snow than we do here in southern Michigan. You can keep it, thanks. BTW, out the door to work this morning at 3:30 a.m. & my pickup thermometer was +3 degrees. Brrrrrr. Guess it's that time of year. re: from old lady's mad "....HERES MY FOLDER...." Looks like the kids are having fun on their snow day!
Yeah, we need an AWWWW...My wife is from MN, her family is all still up there. We go at least once a year, I have been there many a winter, I know what its like. Ice fishing, snowmobiles, -20 degrees, dress like an eskimo to go to the store etc. Its great (to visit) but could not live there. Guess its what your used to. They all feel the same way about our 100+ degree summer days
old lady's man , Looks like you had some fun today with your daughter ! Yea you all don't get to see that white stuff too much like we do here in Pa. We have had about 3 or 4 snowfalls so far this year and none more that 3" . That's fine with me . We usually get it like 6" or so at a time but we have had a very cold winter so far and the big snow storms have just been missing us ! That's fine with me ! I have a very bad back with 3 disc that are all but gone in my lower back so the less snow the happier I am ! I have a corner lot that has a sidewalk up one side and down the other . Bad thing is my mother in law live across the street on the other corner so I get stuck doing that one as well . So I do twice the amount every time ! I have a big 2 stage snow blower with electric starter so at least I don't have to pull to get it started or shovel that snow ! It's still hard on my back . At least we don't have a winter like last year so far ! Ours went in the top 5 or 7 worst winters of all times since they started keeping records ! Ron I would rather have the snow than all that very cold weather you usually have . The ONLY good thing about that cold weather is punching holes on the ice and enjoying a damn cold day fishing ! Still a very cold day , outside fishing on a frozen lake is better than a good day at work ! YEP , I enjoy fishing too ! Everyone enjoy the snow with your little ones and drive safe ! My daughter lives in Alabama and when they get snow the place shuts down like Ga. did today . They just have NO snow equipment at all . Must be nice to get off with a 1/2" of snow . I will be glad in about 3 month when this **** is all over and the car season starts coming alive ! YEA !!!!!!!!! Come on warmer weather ! Jim
i was born and lived in upstate new york til 1976 then my dads co. cresent tool moved south . so when he lost his job we had to relocate. somehow we wound up here. i love snow always have. but like atlanta. it shuts down with a snow flake falling. we went back out onight for some dark night sleding. we stayed in the driveway instead of going towards the creek.
Looks like we're gonna get hit later today here in lower Michigan. They're talking 2-6 inches by rush hour so I think I'm gonna make it a short day and get outta here around noon so I can plow out the driveway and private road I live on. I talked to my brother late Monday, he drives truck and was near Wheeling WV & heading to I77 then south. Said he wasn't looking forward to going any farther south but he lives in High Point NC and wanted to get home. I don't envy his drive thru the mountains. I was in the Air Force in the early 70s, stationed at Shaw AFB (near Columbia) SC and one day we got hit with about 8 inches of snow. The base, the town - EVERYTHING - was paralyzed. As you guys said, they just don't have equipment for handling snow removal down south. Even the base was closed as they attempted to clear the flight line. Some of us northern boys got brave and headed to town - mistake! Cars ****tered all over the place, hardly anything was open...I remember helping push cars outta snowbanks and not getting back to base till long after dark. Fun times. Hope everyone is safe and if possible - having fun in the snow.
Yep it kills me around here...my kids were out of school before we even saw a snowflake. WTF? Dont, and I repeat, DONT go to the store after they mention snow around here, you will be in a longggggg line. I just hit the gas station for gas, beer, bread, milk. We are all good then!
