I just read that my good friend and historic car guy p***ed today. I met Wes the first weekend I was out with coupe almost 20 years ago. He had been a car show judge for many decades. I posted before about his 55 Ford mild custom that did 30 years on the car show circuit. I’ve seen it close up. It is amazing. After more than 40 years, the paint is basically flawless. The great thing happening as of late is a multi page story of Wes and his cars for an upcoming Rodders Journal. Steve ****an of the Rodders Journal shot Wes’s 55 in the late 70’s for Rod and Custom and again in the early 80’s for Hot Rod. They just did another shoot of the car in September. I really wish he could have lived to see the article. He was truly deserving. R.I.P. Wes. I will miss our conversations and your history you were so happy to share.
Losing a good friend is very tough. Condolences man. Remember your post's on here of his 55.....beauty.
I had the great pleasure of working with Wes and others judging the " Ram Rod's" World of wheels car show, starting at the old D.C Army and moving to other venues. Wes was a true book of ISCA judging knowledge. He was always gracious and helpful to the young guy. I fond this picture of his 55 on the web. I remember the first time I saw it in its deep candy blue, simply amazing was an understatement.... Gods Speed Wes.
Here’s a few shots of his 55 with its first paint and interior. Cob webbing paint job by Marylands own Richard Glymph.
