    Damn!
I meet him about 15 years ago when my best friend for the last 30+ years and I were in Des Moines. He was there with "the other Larry" who he'd been friends with for years. Both had just retired, and were looking forward to "full time rodding". We spent the weekend hanging out with them, and talked all the way home about how we hoped to end up life long car buddies like them. Sadly, I believe "the other Larry" passed away a couple years after we meet, but I would always look forward to seeing LL at least once a summer somewhere at a run. He kept trying to convince me to bring the hood for my coupe down to his shop so he louver it on his new press....sure wish I had! Rest in peace, Larry!!

Back to the Top for the weekend crew.

The funeral is Tuesday, drive your Hot Rod, jeans and a car shirt are the uniform of the day.

  17. ...the "other Larry" was Larry Gibson from Marshalltown, Iowa, he and Lamb were childhood buddies since the age of 3 !...both very likable guys.
Gibson owned a nice 41 Chevy coupe and a Model A coupe with a 250 Chevy six. He later bought a 47 Chevy p.u. from me.
...I first met Gibson at Des Moines Goodguys many years ago and he introduced me to Larry Lamb and a 3rd friend also named Larry.(can't remember his last name). All 3 were in the service at the same time but not together. All 3 got a tattoo of a lil skunk on their arm but never realized they all had the same tattoo til only a few years before I met them.... a strange set of coincidences!
Does anybody know the 3rd Larry?

When I was at LAMB's a couple of times bench racing or a helping hand with my car ,Lamb told me about a guy back east maybe from Maine that I thought he said was also named Larry and that he did B'Ville with, or sold a car to, or parts. He would get to chuckling about Larry from New England and I think that had the N.E. accent and pronouncing his name Laaaary with the soft "A" and "R".

Lamb and Gibson were pretty inseperable and when Gibby died - Lamb hurt.

Gibby and Lamb together again. A great loss for Central Iowa, and it seems the whole rodding community. :(

I knew Larry as well. I met him way back in the 80's, when I was living in Newton, Ia. Great guy, great loss for the rodder community. He'll be missed!

I believe te 3rd Larry you are talking about was Larry Weaver who passed away probably a dozen years ago.

Larry Lamb was a heck of a nice guy. He was one of the pillars in the central Iowa old car scene and everybody knew him. I will miss seeing his smiling face around events. RIP Larry.

  27. had the priviledge of knowin em both; great guys!
...thanks for that info;...sure be nice if someone had a few pics of Lamb's roadster...
was it finished or still a project?

Bob I'm sorry for your loss, it seems to me that Larry passed from the number one cause of death, Life.
