Just read about this while checking out the art show. Damn, this sucks. Never meet him, but as an artist I respected his work very much. RIP

What a fine artist, what a loss. My prayers go out to the Drake family.
As a cancer patient myself, this is a horrific desease. I keep praying for a cure so other families won't suffer. OLY

Thanks, Bill. Your work set the standard few can approach. That you were such a nice guy makes this very sad for everyone you knew and inspired.

    Hi Dave,

I wondered if you knew and thought about dropping you a line. I should have, but did not realize you were on the HAMB.

Your thoughts as well as others are appreciated. I notified the family regarding both this post and the bdrake Friday Art Show and they were going to sit down together tonight and take a look.

    Peace.

For those who might live somewhat near Lafayette, Indiana (an hour north of Indy and 1.5 hours south of Chicago), I thought I would let you know that the family is hosting a memorial car show for Bill Drake tomorrow.

I should have wrote something sooner, but just now thought about it (duh...)

    Details are as follows:

    May 31st
    Hot Rod/Bike Show
    Immanuel Church of Christ
1526 South 18th Street (across street from Jeff High School)
    12:00 - 3:00
    $10

    Happy Motoring.

Very talented fellow. Always loved his posts on the art shows. My deepest condolences to his wife and daughter, and to his extended hot rod family.

Very sorry to hear that. I didn't know him personally but I lost my father to cancer. I was tough watching him slowly fade away in pain but I know that in the end he went home to be with THE Father, so all is good...

Bills family is in my thoughts and prayers... :(

What a shock. I just found this site and only learned his name and saw his art for the first time yesterday.

His illustration of the duece full fender 5 window has to be one of the best I have ever seen (whether digital or not...I couldn't say for sure). I'd like to save a good copy of it, but the link to that illustration on this thread is way too low rez. Does anyone know of a link to that file as a larger size? Thanks.

Regarding access to the 32 drawing, I am not sure if it will help, but here is Bills website:

And here is the website for Dave Mann's Roadsters.com. Dave also sells T-shirts with the same image. Maybe Dave can help with a bigger copy, or maybe Dave owns the rights to the pic now, I am not sure.
