While the Willys mentioned above is cool it is not a sedan delivery. Willys Motor company did not produce a sedan at all, therefore it could not have produced a sedan delivery.

 

I am not sure if you are correct here is the serial numbers for 1951 willys

Whippits, Knights, Aero, model 77 were sedans although you may be right at there were no sedan deliverys.

 

It's regesteted as truck and the beginning of the vin starts with 473

You're right, and I guess that I should have clarified that there was no sedan version that sported this front end. Btw I'd love to get ahold on one of these old trucks, windows or not.

 

This argument is another reason this thread might get closed down; let's be careful. The bigger question is whether it is "of a style consistent with the HAMB." Wide tires, Chevy Rally wheels, big diameter exhaust, seats, blah, blah, blah. I think it's a cool car/truck/panel/whateverlabelyouwanttouse, and I really dig the whole tiki theme, but is it right for the HAMB?

 

Looking for information or pictures...I remember a 55 Chevy sedan delivery that ran at Onondaga Dragway (MI) in 61 or 62. The car ran in C/GS with a blown small block, radiused wheel wells and was white in color with "NORTHTOWN" on the sides. If I remember correctly it was from the Detroit area and was owned or sponsored by Northtown Balancing Co.

The 49-54 Chevy (also Vette 53-63) suspension is practically a bolt in for 41-48 Chevys. Disc brakes are easily made up and parts are readily available.
A more modern alternative is the MII/Pinto/Bobcat IFS.

 

Easiest way to determine a Sedan Delivery from a Panel Delivery.

Most if not all manufacturers who built Sedan deliveries did so using a car platform. I know in the 30's the Chevy deliveries were a "coach kit" delivery body from the front door back that was mounted on a 4 door car platform.
The Panel Delivery which is what the Willys appears to be, was the truck version and was built on a truck platform. In the case of my 37 Chevy's they may look similar but I assure you the body and frame parts are not interchangeable. The Willys also looks like it was 4WD which would be associated with a truck platform.
At any rate, it still looks like one sweet ride.

 

I believe it was 4wd at one time somebody donated an early corvette motor front-end and rear to it way before I got it I'm just rebuilding it now and plan on hauling minibikes in it next season thanks for the compliments

Postwar Willys,were offered in both 2&4 wheel drive. The same body,different frame.
I had a 2 wheel drive panel delivery. I used the entire drive train, radiator to rear end,
from a '68 Mustang to power it. It was the same basic body as the station wagon ,but
without the rear windows and instead of a tail gate it was came with double barn doors in the rear. 2 wheel drive chassis were found on most Jeepsters,panel deliverys and
some station wagons. ICR seeing any 2 wheel drive pickups ,but it' a likely there were
a few built.

Its a shame to paint over the original lettering in the panel. Might be cool to repaint the car, but save the lettering/paint that's inside the actual panel?

That sign painter's handiwork has lasted so long for it to be removed...

 

This image surfaced on another thread here and I thought it would be appropriate to show it here. Leland Grantz' '40 Plymouth in front of Gene Winfield's place. According to several sources, Leland -- who is in a nursing home in Idaho, but still quite sharp and a car nut -- helped Winfield move from this location with the SD. Winfield built a custom '51 Chevy for Grantz, which is being restored.

Here's one Im going to get started on this year. Had rotten floors and was butchered into a 350/350/10 bolt death machine, so the plan is 327/powerglide/narrowed corporate 12 bolt on a custom chassis with straight axle front and a triangulated 3 link.
