Kerry, we'll handle this, you gotta take care of things at home, we understand and are here if you need anything.

why don't you try to get something going at the Pinal county fairgrounds ??? it's 1/2 way between Phoenix and Tuscon ,,, around 20 miles east of Casa Grande .... has buildings ,, food court ,, and even a dirt track oval ..they have just started having some concerts there ..... i don't know how much they would want ,,, but it sits empty most of the time ... and i'm sure that they would love to hook you up ...

Thanks everyone. I figured you guys would have my back and have it covered. Not worried about that at all. And truthfully, I could use the distraction of still helping plan the show.

I have kind of been preparing myself for this, but it is still not easy when you actually get told the words.

So, as of right now, everything is still a go on my end. I just figured I would give the heads up and let everyone know what is going on in case I can't show up or don't have a chance to participate too much for a little while.

like i said in my post ,, Pinal fairgrounds have everything you need .. parking ,, bathrooms,, food and buildings .. and a few large buildings that you could use .. room enough for a swap meet too..they even hav the beer bars ...... we just had country thunder a few miles away .. and have 3 day reodo's around the corner .. WE need some real culture .. and i think it would be nice .. a lot of hotels in Casa Grande that are secure enough for the NASCAR guys ,, so i think they are secure enough for us ..

Sorry to chime in late on this post just read it. You can count me in for anything within 50 miles of gilbert. I ll the n family in the 63 or the 47 wich ever is funtional at the time.

Oh by the way San tan mall in gilbert is a cool spot for an evening show with the way therre parking is set up and the lighting could be a cool spot. Been wanting to do a vw hang out there for sometime but not big on being a planner as much as a helper.

I'll also see if the rest of the DHP crew wants to hang.

Let bring it back up in case anyone has missed the thread....

I talked with the guys at AZ State Fairgrounds today and November is looking good for them. A couple of us are meeting with them before our meeting on the 8th to see whats-what... We're just in the "talks" stage so nothing is solid with this, but are there any dates in November we should avoid?

I think making a smaller show, cheap and good bands is the way to start... starting big seems like a road to disaster....

Whatever you do keep it smaller, would be a lot better.

We put out a good show and mostly only post on the hamb and word of mouth for our Sinner Anniversary shows and we tend to have a good turn out. It takes at least 2 plus years to get a good "hot rod" turn out. Now a rockabilly show is easy they are all like a heard of sheep.. Post it and it will happen and about 4 cars in parking lot. I understand most are into the "scene" and cars but We seem to have a better turnout when its mostly gearheads that show up. You've been to our shows. we have lowriders show up,bikes and hot rods... where you post and where you hand out flyers makes your show.. Select certain websites, bars, car clubs etc.. You dont want to end up with a "wolf" show..(azrockabilly.net)...
You have seen how the Shifters have turned Viva back around and it is back to what it was meant for...... Hot Rods,Sleds, traditional, bellflowers etc...

Sorry to hear about your mom. Thats a tough one. My prayers to your family.
Az show sounds like a great idea and I'm shure theres a hungry audience for it.

No, I don't want to have a show with a bunch of people who are not into cars. Not what we are aiming for. but, I would like to have a show that might attract some people that may or may not cruise up for small shows. Yes, the Sinners show was excellant and a great time, no doubt.

Thanks Czuch.....As of right now she is doing alright.

I'm bringing my new project... a dirigible-hibachi! It's a pre-war, traditional, hydrogen-filled model, of course! See you gents there!

I put the word out with a few clubs and we should be seeing a few of those guys as well. From the looks of things the parking lot at the library is going to have quite the car show on Saturday!

Too bad I'll be stuck in the Toyota....

Sperry - Who hoo! Doesn't have a lead inner structure, does it?! That's exactly what this day will need, really silly dangerous stuff! But, Oh, no open flames in the library, right?

Hey Kerry, I hope your mom is doing well.

I will be up in the mountains and can't attend this weekend but I do support the effort and will help as needed.

I would have gone to the meeting if I could, but I work most saturdays.
Keep us informed of the progress.
Thoughts and prayers are with you & the family, Kerry.

Hey guys, Thanks to all who attended the meeting today. The ideas seemed to flow well from all involved, and I think we made some forward progress. Basically what was decided today was to take some time and hear Billitproof's "pitch" in the next couple of weeks and see how it all would fit. We also discussed a plan "B", which would be a much smaller local show that could happen as quick as Sept. DON"T MARK YOUR CALENDARS YET! Nick made contact with the billetproof guys this afternoon, but came up with a date that didn't jibe for everyone, so he will make contact again and we will post the date here when we know what it is. I will be looking into a couple more of the financial issues with the fair grounds for the plan "B" show and we can more accurately check the feasibility of the show. Let's keep this thread open and running as we wait for the billetproof guys response and next meeting as a means of keeping the ideas flowing as to where and what we want at our traditional hot rod show. Sorry if I talked a bit much today, and thanks to all that came, Chip Quinn
