I prefer my AR-15 or the classic 44 mag. Anyway, sorry to here about the break in.

If it's for home defense I'd say no because if you actually use it for its intended purpose the weapon will be (at least temporarily) confiscated. Better to use a cheap brand. I have an EAA witness subcompact, very inexpensive and very user friendly. The only downside to mine is a weak spring causes stovepipes once in a great while, but I could correct this for next to nothing. Also, it has very little to no kick, especially when compared to a 1911 framed handgun. The intimidation factor is just as high though, the hole at the end of the barrel does all the talking.

P.S. a cheap handgun doesn't need to be as well maintained as a Kimber either...just sayin'
