Various forecasts as of Thursday morning show a 50-80% chance of thunderstorms in the Joplin area for Saturday. What typically happens; at what point does the event get cancelled vs postponed? I'm concerned about making the trip from Texas for naught...
Keep in mind that rarely does it rain all day here at this time of year. Often we will have evening showers or thunderstorms. I remember one year we quit racing early because of rain, but usually it is just hot. I have been to every HAMB Drags and every one of them was a good time. The racing is important, but remember, there are various social activities too. John
On the HAMB Drags website it says that it is a rain or shine event. I am sure every effort will be made to get cars down the track. The year it ended early from what I remember is there was lighting with the approaching storm and the electric went out. Not sure if that gives you any help with your answer or not. http://hambdrags.com/index.php/schedule/
I've been keeping an eye on the forecast, also... Earlier today it said 80% chance of scattered storms, now it says 50% chance in the morning hours. Hopefully the rain doesn't happen at all. Regardless, the Omaha crew will be there!
The truck and trailer are packed. We're heading out in a few hours. Thanks for the encouragement, everyone!
I doubt it.. The track didn't get near the rain Joplin did, and the afternoon is forecast to be clear.. But I won't speak for Ryan
the rain at the track stopped about 1. They had the track dried and ready to race just about 3pm. Great afternoon.
