Hot Rods Weber F4 cam spex

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rat bastad, Mar 26, 2025.

  1. Hey fellas, I have a nice Weber F4 cam that I scored and would like to confirm the specs on it.

The info I have managed to dig up online is as follows :

Adv Duration = 282 deg (I'm thinking it'll work to around 245@.050" or so but not sure, is there a calculator to work it out ?)
    .340 lift I/E
    .014/.016" I/E lash

I measured the I/E lobes with accurate verniers and I'm getting around .355" at peak lift. As can be seen in the pics, the top of the lobes have a wide radius so duration seems significant.

I have read conflicting stories about this cam. Some say it has a super fast rate of lift with lot of duration. Others have stated not so good on the street ie: more of a roundy track kind of cam; others say it runs great on the street like a raped ape haha.

Would anyone know what the duration @ .050" spec, what the LSA is and the valve events specs ?

Fire away and thanks in advance fellas.

My How to Build Ford Flathead V-8 Horsepower book by George McNicholl has the Weber F4 specs as; Application: competition, Advertised duration: 283* intake & 282* exhaust, LSA: 111.3*, Net valve lift: 0.326" intake & 0.324" exhaust, Valve lash (hot) 0.014" intake & 0.016" exhaust, Overlap (with advertised duration): 60*, IVO: 32*, IVC: 71*, EVO: 74*, EVC: 28*. He also references F4a & F4b with different valve lifts, everything else being the same.

  4. Awesome that's what I was looking for thanks !!

As an aside, I wonder what spring installed height opn/closed pressure) would work best with the F4 and an Isky 185G spring ?

That would be a good question for ronnieroadster or Bored&Stroked to answer.
