Heres what I got. I bought a Nikon coolpix 2000 camera, I loaded the view5 software into my computer, I can get the pics from the camera to the computer software, What do I have to do to now to be able to post pics here on the HAMB? This is all forigen to me so any explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Billy
A lot of HAMBers use StarPhoto. It is a hosting site. It is also free. http://starphoto.starblvd.net/new.shtml Go here and get yourself a free site and post your photos on the HAMB........it saves Ryan $$$ this way. Or you can attach a photo directly from your computer. It is the last thing you do when you reveiw your post.
If you noticed.......the first photo has StarPhoto accross the top....look closely...... The second one does not.......... The first one was done using the hosted site, and the second one was a attachment. When you preview your post it will say at the bottom.......about attaching a photo, click on browse....then get to the photo in thhe computer, click on it and BAM.... Home free........
here is my try - pictures need to be 70000 bytes - thats 70k i believe.... so fairly small if you are posting them from your computer... if you are posting them from your own webpage....then i don't think there is a limit...if you have a webpage hit the image button under the instant ubb code box.....you will see it when you try to post...then type in the address to the picture... example http://www.name_of_webpage/images/name of picture with extension any questions i can walk you through it... pm me.. or email me----kyle
How do I know if the pics are too big? What do to get the pic I choose to get from my computer to this post? Thanks for taking the time to tell me. Billly
you need to be able to use digital photo editing software to check the size of a picture... some came with your digital camera.... i don't know what that software is capable of....have you been able to email your pictures? if so they are one megabyte or less probably or 1000k... to post them you would need to make them less than 1/10th the size they came out of the camera... or 70k.....you can email the pictures to me if you want... if there aren't too many (4 or 5) i can resize them for you... there are many photo editing software programs out there...I use adobe photoshop elements... it's about a $90.00 program but it does alot of the things that the full blown prefessional editing software (photoshop) does... email me some pics... and tell me what software you have and maybe i can walk you through a resize.... k.vick@verizon.net if you want to get away from the 70k limitation you will need to get a website...a free one from starphoto... or you can go for the bigtime and buy a domain name and hosting service...that will run ya about $100 bucks a year for a cheapie deal....
right click on your picture and then click on properties... it will tell you the size.....that picture was 16k...you can bump it up a notch or two.... reduce your picture by 50% and see what properties says... if it's 70,000bytes or 70k or less your golden.....

You copied the "properties (URL address) from the thumbnail. If you click on the photo so it's full size on your screen then copy the address from there, it will show up a perfect size.
