Hi everyone, this is my first post on here, knew about this through nsra.org.uk forum. i have recently built a website with over 300 pics from many types of uk custom's, lowriders, hot rods, custom van and custom van drag racing. the majority of pictures is from NSRA and NASC Events. I would like to know what you think about my site and what can i do too furthur improve it, i am open to any suggestions. so if you like, check it out and feel free to let me know what you think either through here or my guestbook / forum. Thanks, pritch @ uk customs www.ukcustoms.cjb.net Uk Customs Homepage
Let's let the Brits tell him what's what in that style that is polite, yet makes you feel like a complete *****.
We could give you opinions if you had a host. Geocities has already cut off your bandwidth. Unfortunately, there is no way you'll be able to host a picture gallery on geocities, they have strict bandwidth restrictions. Good luck. -Dane
i do have a host, but yes geocities are quite srict. the site works all the time, but on some of the pictures pages it exceeds bandwidth if about 10 people wisit that same page in an hour. Cant you get onto the site??? Because i have check reguarly and it always works on my pc.
Buy some webspace, or gwet an account with an ISP that give some away.. no-ones gonna look at the site if its restricted to 10 people an hour.
hey pritch welcome..a word of advice, your about to embark on a journey with some of the most well known Hotrodders in the world...people with amazing knowledge on all the things your probably ever gonna need to know about rods...but...people around here like to know a bit about the person they are talking to...so introduce yourself...what your building, what you do etc and i`m sure they will make you very welcome monkey monkey-inc ps. they are right about geocities..until recently i had my website hosted with them and i forever had problems...buy yourself a domain, you can get one for 2 years for less than 20 quid
Thank you very much, Mr. Monkey. You are a gentleman and most certainly, a scholar. I might be too stoopid to notice, but I didn't see anything in your post that would make ME feel like a *****.
my site is on geocities and i have no problems (that I know of). your site is nice, not my bag w/ all the import pix etc... and a bit too much bling bling for me. oh ya, man... seriously do something about an intro, if you're not into trad stuff, are not building anything or drive an old car as a daily u'll get bored and be gone in a short time. but if u're really into it, you'll find this place to be your home. with that said, dont lie if you dont have a car or whatever (or post pix of a car with a visor). this is not like other msg boards, people here are reall and meet in reall life.
Mine's better. www.the-rumbler.com Not real keen on that Gator **** that tries to install when you go there too. Lose that **** if you can. I had 3 or 4 extra windows pop up too.
Thanks for the commenets etc. 1) only very big picture pages are allowed about 10 an hour (just estimating though). 2) about to install a program which should eliminate most pop-ups. 3) i dont drive, im only 16 and into rodding etc through my parents, my dad has a custom van (thames 400e. v. old. Small block Ford V8. Wheels, pipes etc.)
I prefer UK kustoms I first thought they had their site redone. Not good with a site with a similar name and all kind of content...
My site is in no way connected with UK Kustom, Despite the similar names. My site is totally personal with no physical benifits from it. Just like web design and showing people pictures of UK events etc etc. (Reply to one above: intro for myself. Their is a short intro on my mainpage, i may copy it to here?)
used to be a guy who drove one exactly like that around my town...he was about 5ft 2" with a m***ive afro (he was white) and scared the local town folk to death, not only with the way he looked but the way he drove that ****er around...he looked like that harlem globetrotter bloke meadowlark lemon on speed monkey
[ QUOTE ] .he looked like that harlem globetrotter bloke meadowlark lemon on speed [/ QUOTE ] ...an albino Meadowlark Lemon on speed...man, that's agreat mental picture!!!!
I checked your site out. Unlike most of these guys, I like Street Rods as well as Trad Rods, but I can do without the Rice Rockets. Not bad for a 16 yr old, and what the hell is a quid? I thought you all had Pounds, or Euro's, or some **** like that.
I think that must be Pritch's Dad's van. There's only one drag racing (Ford) Thames 400E van I've seen. I breathe a sigh of relief every time I see it get to the other end safely.. It's a Ford product from the late 50's /early 60's. Used mostly Ford Consul running gear with it's own independant front suspension. 1703cc as standard. I had one once, a caravanette. Good job on the website, Pritch, but I'd use less black, lighten it up a bit. The content wont fit too well here, but the drags pics are good. If you've got bandwidth problems, best just select only your best pics and resize them quite small, about 450 pixels wide works well. Frinstance, I clicked on one that was bigger than my monitor, and 128 K You could resize it down and it'd be 30-40k You could then download 4 pics for the same bandwidth. Check out my site, you'll see what I mean. Good luck Mart.
JOE DARTON'S THAMES 400E: Nope it aint my dads van, but my dad has a street legal thames 400e with a small black ford V8 in . That thames picture posted up there is Joe Darton's (one of my dads mates) it runs alot @ shakespreare county raceway uk. he runs 12.4 at best. (im working on an intro at the moment for my site) my dads thames 400e...
still working on an intro for my site, thing is that im doing it with a trial download program so it will have a link in the corner or something. doh!
NEW INTRO ADDED!!!! i finally managed to get an intro on my site, but in the process i managed to delete the main page, but iv re built it now and THE WHOLE SITE SHOULD BE UP AND RUNNING! i would like some feedback to let me know that everything works ok wih no problems......Thanks Andrew www.ukcustoms.cjb.net
