Windshield wipers for a goats ass? I'm not helping, am I. No disrespect meant-whatever carbs they are, it's different and cool lookin. Jay
I know, but Linda bribed me with some awesome oatmeal cake not to tell. Dickster, you are one lucky (and talented) dude
Is a frog's butt watertight? Sure they work. I will give all of you a hint, cause you ALMOST(but not perfect) got the intake right and that's about all. I used 2 of these carbies in a different configuration a couple years ago that is now on a HAMBER's A burning up the roads. I'm going to let you guess a while longer and as long as Bob and Denise don't give my secret away I am going to make it a little more interesting. One more hint, this is NOT the unit that is going to SEMA next week on a A pickup. I will give one of my "spiral ribbed" fuel filter kits to the person who can identify this induction system correctly. Now, have some fun, cause I sure am.
Dickster 27,Thats what happens to you after 75 years.....Been there, seen that, but still going strong...now where is my cigar? where in Texas you coming to?
The light finally came On. They are Heavy equipment Holly carbs. Same base as Strombergs. The Wizzard
Man, you are getting warmer but not there yet. You're going to win that fuel filter kit yet! Keep goin'.
Man, I know I've seen them on something industrial before... A forklift or a tank or something. hmmm.... Aha! Holley 885's, used on White, GMC, Autocar, and IH trucks... http://www.carburetor.ca/carbs/tech/Holley/concentric.html
They are called a Concentric Carb for heavy equipment and some stationary power plants. Used from 1946-1955. Does that work? The Wizzard
They look like Holley 885 used on Mack trucks. http://www.carburetor.ca/carbs/tech/Holley/concentric.html
They look like a hybrid of the Mercury 885 3 bolt base and the top half out of a Mack truck. Because if look at the link I posted the top part of the carburetor in the lower left hand corner matches; the Mercury carbs don't match. Either way, they're Holley Concentric carburetors and you named them first!
Well wizzard, I gotta tell you. Your close enough to get the brass ring. These are indeed Holley Concentric carbies. These particular onces were made for the Canadian military to provide some more torque for their deuce and a half's and bigger. The first time I built a unit with this particular model, I had no idea what to expect but found out after being used they run great. They are very unique in the fact that the valve body is exactly as any 94 but the bowl is actually a cast iron cover that is chambered around the action fuel bowl. They have a 4 bolt square side draft air horn so I took a VW custom air cleaner and altered the base to make it clear and mount to the horn. I used my special risers compliments of my buddy Matt at Gear Drive to give the carbies a little more height and little more run to atomize fuel a bit better. Obviously the rest of the stuff is my craziness. So, my intellectual friend, PM me your mailing addy and I'll send you your prize. Oh, I'm starting one now that will be 4 carbies, 2 94's and 2 97's on the same intake with 2 front to back and 2 side to side. That will be a fun challenge for progressive linkage. It is amazing how much you can do with dual quad intakes without having to resort to 2 ho-hum 4 barrels. Damn, ain't hot rodding a blast?
Damn Dick I was gonna see if you would give me a fuel filter just to keep quite since I had inside info..........HAHAHAHA This looks even better and wilder in person boys. its Kooooool with a K.... Shoe
Yee Haa!! First thing I've won in years. I actually remember working on an Old Road Grader probably 40 years ago with one on it. I was driving my 50 Merc at the time and noticed the simularitys. I looked through my many Motors Manuals for an actual Model number but no luck. You do some Fine work my friend and that fuel filter will look right home next to your Oil fill tube on my small block Tri Power when it goes back on said 50 Merc. Shipping info coming via P.M.
