I finally got set up in my new building and got to start on my A again.

made new stand for my strecher/shrinker after selling the old one i made because i wanted the heads to spin. even had time to finish it with some hemmer tone paint.

started making the water fall center console.

Spent all weekend getting brackets and mounts made for engine, trans, radiator, grill shell and tank, cut down a driveshaft, set all the angles and got the steering box and brackets mocked up. Steering, brakes, firewall, floors, and a roof are next

Started my truck for the first time in 4 months, replaced the tranny pan gasket and the shifter linkage seal in the trans and hopefully cured the leaking issue. A little finishing work on the body and it'll be on the road again. Time to get excited...

Hit up a swap meet where I got a rebuilt FMX for $50 then some galaxy buckets for another $15. Went to the parts store for FE's ignition parts and water pump and tore down the 53's brakes.......:D slim

I hear ya Bender...but I'm still rubbing just to get the black shot on.

Primed the body yesterday, spent the rest of the day and today chasing down all the little imperfections. Oh the madness will it never end? My wife says to me "it doesnt have to be perfect its a hot rod not a show car".

Dealt with a new challenge on my shadetree RPU build. Over the past few years, in the woods some kind of bird has been nesting. Not exactly sure what kind, but its rather large. Looks to be some type of Egret. Anyway, each year the flock has gotten larger. This year they reached the yard and have taken over. There are several hundred of these big birds all around and over the RPU. In less than a week of them moving in, the whole freaking yard is whitewashed with bird crap. Everything for the RPU is whitish. Now its starting to smell rather...foul. They are LOUD too. Imagine several hundred large birds constantly cackling and fluttering in the trees. Sound like a jungle. I called animal control and they won't do anything. Called Texas Fish & Game and they tell me its some protected species and won't do anything since they are nesting. Not sure how long this is going to last. This is all after having battled with poison ivy, poison oak growing around and through the frame and body that had to be removed before I could get to it so I could work on it.

That's ok. Once I drive this puppy out of here, I can look back and laugh about such things. Just part of the challenge of building in the outdoors with no garage.

Finished installing the new Headers, put new pigtail sockets in the tail lights, and moved the battery to the trunk.

Then after burning the paint off the Headers, backed the old SS dodge up in the garage and did a sure-track burn out!

    Life is good!

Fixed up my front carb (leaking gas) and fabbed up tandem linkage, ran the throttle cable and hooked up a pedal. Started chopping up the right side header to make it fit the frame, welding to follow tomorrow... And tried to track down a misfire on the softail, no luck yet

Cleaned up the rusty old shit in the back driveway, gave a buddy a '39 Ford rear spring and worked on patch panels for the cowl;plus the usual "honey-do's";) !

  19. Well, I went to the local show Friday. Yesterday...I basically didnt to squat but go over to my buddys and talk shop, and go box hunting/dumpster diving with no luck.

Today...pulled the dash out again and decided to get busy w/ some lead work and metal finish the rest. Derek Mitchell was over helping me. Put in the column drop, added a fresh set of 32 taillights (Thanks HotRodPrimer) and put in the dash cap I picked up at pomona.

    Thats about it :)

I did actually do something this weekend. I put my coupe together and drove it to a local meeting. It did drive OK but there is some flaws that needs to be corrected. But all and all it was damn nice to finally drive it as almost finished.

Dropped the gas tank--shake it and it sounds like the world's biggest maraca! Got the fuel pump installed up front and a bunch of yard stuff done too.

Fired up the flathead for the first time in about 3 years (or longer). A little gas and she popped off in about 1/2 revolution of the crankshaft. My wiring job seems to be OK. Only thing left to wire is the kickdown switch for the overdrive. The "three on the tree" works excellent. I used a 51 Ford shift tube on a 1939 steering column and the linkage lined up like it was ready made for this application. The rebuilt master cylinder I had installed "shit the bed", so I bought a NEW one. The hydraulic throwout bearing seems to work good.
My humble thanks to "Vintakes" and "286merc" for the very informative posts on multi carb setups for 97's and 94's. I guess I'll be running 1 carb until I get the power valves and other stuff to do it right the first time. You guys saved me some serious money in "Tylenol".
