Well I haven't got to do the WHADJAGETDONETHISWEEKEND post yet so I thought I would throw this one up since no one else has. I patched some rust on the drivers fender of the Olds and stripped the rest of it down and treated it with Rust Mort so I can Epoxy it tomarrow. Oh and here is a shot of the hood that I did last weekend.
I installed a coil cover and Nerf bars on my Dad's new '40 sedan. Thats about as hard as I like to work.
I did a little wiring, but heres why i posted, how did you paint the hood? In your garage with a compressor and a HPLV gun? I might have missed the post.
Finally got the front suspension back together on the truck this weekend. It's SO good to see it sitting on its wheels again, instead of on concrete blocks. A buddy from work came over Friday night, and finished up some welding for me, and then I spent way too long painting stuff and getting it all back together today. I didn't get the calipers painted, but put the wheels on anyway, just to see it. Took some pics, but they came out like ****, and it's a subframed car, so it's not too pretty (or traditional) anyway...
I finished belt sanding the last of ScarryLarry's Showdown toppers and then got to cleaning the shop. Things kind of get out of hand all winter so it's a good thing we have the Open House coming up on the 15th or the dust and chips would just keep piling up Boy do I hate sweeping!
I don't know if I'd call it progress because I didn't expect to do it but since the front brakes went south on the Galaxie last night, I did a front brake job today with the help, beer, and moral support of BaytownGreaser.
I've been taking baby steps since I can only make it home from school every so often. My new driveshaft will be done this week, I made a set of 2.5" cap-style exhaust cut outs, I recessed the trans tunnel for some more driveshaft clearnace, and put together all of the linkages (throttle, TV linkage, and shifter). One good week of wrenching and she'll be back ***aulting the blacktop
Nothing major. After doing yard work most of the day I dragged the ol' lady in the garage to help me bleed the brakes on the 59. Also got the two front steelies repainted. I'll finish the other two this week.
Eric what went with the brakes, I fell pretty ****py about that. Anything I can do to make it right by ya? I finally finished up all thw wireing under the dash on the Pusher, and averything is done in the engine bay the mill is ready to fire. All I lack is ****oning up my ****** mount, rigging up my shifter and slammin' the driveshaft in it to motor around the neighborhood (headers open of course). I'll be driveing it again by the end of next weekend barring and complications that I haven't thought of. OK Denise help a color blind old fart out. Is the Big Olds gunmetal? (could be a hue of green or blue to me). Looks good kid.
We took the front fenders off yesterday and then spent the day sanding the firewall to prep it for paint. I also cleaned up the splash pans the fenders rest on and undercoated them. This week we're taking the front end apart, finishing the welding on the spring hats/engine mounts and painting everything (including the firewall). Then we start putting everything back together! WOOO HOOOO! Stacey
Its like that color they were calling Lilac a few years back. The old beasty has really been transformed. I guess good taste must run in the family.
Saturday me and some buddies drove a couple hundred miles to pick up my Bel Air. Changed the oil in the guy's back lane, did a quick once over of the bolts and bits to make sure she was road-worthy, and drove it the 200-and-some miles back home. A real nice drive. Straight and true, no shimmys, shakes or breakdowns. Perfect. After we got it back to the shop I changed the fluids in the ****** and diff, lubed the front end, lubed and adjusted the 3spd linkage a bit, and drank some celebratory beers. Then I took my girl out on a date. She is now totally convinced that we need to own her granpa's 53 chev. Nothing too in-depth, but I still feel like I've accomplished something.
Naw Benno, you already took care of me on the bargain price. Don't feel bad. Hey, that ride is 40 years old, there's bound to be SOMETHIN' that doesn't act like new. I think it was just sitting up for a while that did it. A bit of corrosion in the wheel cylinders caused the right front to pop, luckily on my long, straight street with no traffic. Just made a fast u-turn and used the big hump of dirt the city failed to clean up after their road construction to stop it. I'm always reminded why I love old cars when I only have to pay $12.99 for a set of semi met. brake shoes and $2.50 each for wheel cylinder kits. Even a cheapo like me calls that a deal. Other than that it's been a great car, runs like a top and takes bumps like a Cadillac. Hell, I'm gonna replace that fuel pump, tune it up a bit, put a floor shifter in it and it's new owner wants to run it at Day of the Drags this year. LOL Hey it's good to know that The Pusherman is on it's way to driving. You know you're gonna scare all the bad outta those neighborhood gangsta kids with that motor and open headers.
hell my "weekend" just got started for the most part... this week i got sun-mon-tue-wed off.... i know my schedule gets stranger and stranger... yesterday was wasted on mama's hunny dew list, and this mornin with a meeting with our caseworker for the adoption deal... this afternoon is mama's also, but tues and wed... all MINE! lol
Looks good Denise....not sure about the wheel choice though....and what is Rudy doing in the back seat???
Eric, Just came in from the garage. Glad the Ford was nuthin major. Don't tune it too much, I don't want to new owner blow me out of the stageing area at day of the drags. I gotta get back out to the garage, Mrs ****** is expecting to scare the bad out of the wannabes this evening. She called a bit ago and said take a rest then get finished up so I don't have to get too dirty before we blast around the block this evening. Ya gotta love a woman that isn't afraid to crawl under one.
i spent the weekend sanding and painting my dash and in the in between time i worked on mounting my bumber brackets to the camaro subframe- still havent finished that yet
Spent the weekend trying to get my '54 roadworthy before the 500, but it's not cooperating. I've bled the brakes four times and still can't get any pedal. I'm panicing... r
Got my friedns '57 chevy truck rewired(EZ wire kit. $165 from c&lparts.com, worked great), bed swapped, intake, and carb installed, engine tuned, and guage cluster swapped.
Fixed the clutch prolem with the Bucket and proceeded to get in trouble at work doin' burnouts.....Oh well, it was worth it!
