When people ask me about my "artwork" - I smile and say ..."I'm not an artist - can't live up to that ***le, I'm a designer...- Weesner is an artist!" I love his work!
my wife gave me three signed prints nicely framed for christmas saw his show a while ago in Seattle, very cool stuff indeed
No offence to the rest of you artists his age, and there are some good ones. But Keith is my personal favorite hot rod & kustom car artist in your age range. It's early for a book. Wait a few years and it will be an even more amazing book.
I like that Keith Weesner! His art takes me there, wherever that may be. If'n you are reading this, Howdy!
All his work is fantastic! ... but my fav is "Dream Deuce": ... for the obvious reasons ... very Yakel-esque:
Thanks for all the input so far guys. Some nice work has been posted. Keep it comin'. Does anyone know if he has done any F-100s? I just gotta ask. Oh, yeah and if "weez" reads this maybe you can tell us what your favorite is...
I'l ladd my name to the fan club! I love how he pushes the proportions/perspective but it's not at all cartoony, just styled
I love all his work. He captures a truely vintage look in his drawings, right out of the little books. My favorites are the ones, that have a hot girl that might be wrenching or at the very least trying to drag there boyfriends out of the garage. It's what every boy dreams of, and I haven't seen anyone else do that. Gus
Weesner is RAD! I like ALL of his art......the print with the chickies in their skivies working on the bike, torches in hand is but one of my favs......Zombie Fly, Cherry Pie, ETC......he 'gets it' and it shows in his art.....I especially like the cars with mis-matched wheels.....hahaha!
Well I'll jump in here- Every time I'm paging though a little book and see one of those concepts from 1962 I think of Keith's art- Its so damn kick ***. Hes nailed it and its obvious hes in a good groove. Keith and Penny are also really supportive and down to earth- Looking forward to seeing them again at the Roundup- its fun bumping in to his Dad as well- you can tell he grew up with the right role model- Tuck
Wow- Thanks for the kind words everybody! Somebody told me to check it out- I hadn't looked in a couple days, didn't mean to be "too cool" to respond or anything. It's interesting to see what people pick as favorite pieces. And it's nice to know that cars are being influnced by the art as well. Thanks again, Keith
My favorite is the art work for his club the choppers. The coupe with the guy draggin an axe. I have it tatooed on my are.
Weez, My favorite one of your illustrations is a 3/4 rear shot of a chopped, chanelled fenderless sedan with no roof insert and the center section of a Q-C peeking through a hole in the back panel of the body... it's one I've seen in a magazine once, and have never seen reproduced for sale or published anywhere else... that car rocks. I'd love to have that one hanging on my wall.
if you would like to meet keith weesner, then try to make it to this show coming up in may in el segundo, ca. el segundo is about five minutes south of LAX by car or closer if your plane goes down on takeoff. if you lived here you would know what i'm talking about. try to make it to the california screamin' show at gasoline gallery on may 12, 2007. check out the store at www.gasolinegallery.com later dudes chuck
Really love the work too, the style is amazing and I love the subject matter. It has an almost surreal dreamlike quality, and the slightly aged colors are so utterly perfect. A real mastery of color. Hope to see a book of all the work some day, a large format one too, so I can really soak it up.
Here are a couple I don't think I've seen before tonight...they're both amazing. I know there were some posted above, but anyone have any more pics of the older Weesner stuff to post maybe from when he was first getting going? Here are "encounter" and "knockturne"...can't make out the date...any idea when he painted these...I'm guessing last couple of years...05 or 06?
I like everything he's done, but I just figured out what sets some of them apart for me.....the ones that I like best are dark like "Insomnia", "Encounter", and "Knockturne"...they have that element of the film noir/femme fatale thing. Like it just rained or is about to...something is about to happen or just did. He paints the picture and makes me want to know what the rest of the story is...so I keep staring like if I try hard enough I'll figure it out. That's just what comes to mind, but they're very mysterious and make me stare and stare... sorry for the ramblings, I just love this ****! -JOYO here is another one I'd never seen before called "SoftTop"....
Well put, JOYO. It puts me in a good mood every time i look at this stuff... also makes me want to go out and do burnouts.
Nobody has mentioned Keith's Dad. Old School media legend, Jerry. I was fortunate to meet him at Detroit a couple of years ago and it's easy to see where Keith got his start......
