They look like it – I can see the little pad beneath the water neck that says "Weiand". Not a stamp so much as cast into the head itself. From the size of the combustion chamber it looks like they may have been milled at least once? Also looks like they have been milled for valve clearance as well.
Ford made aluminum heads in Canada with a Canada mark. Sorry I can't see Weiamd mark. You may want to check on the Ford barn.
I was going to mention that they may just be Canadian heads. Which are prized heads by the real flathead guys. Two heads that would be high on my list if I was building a flatty are the Canadian aluminum heads and the American Rocky Mountain heads. OK just read though the thread, they actually say Weiand on them? Stamped or cast?
I believe Offenhauser uses a numbering system 400, 425 etc with the lower number being higher compression. Not sure about Weiand?
"375" (or any stamped number) is the maximum valve lift without machining for additional valve clearance.
You are correct one hole is bigger he said for an oil fouler...I guess I should stay away from these heads eh?!
the 375 is the clearance measured in the pocket above the valve. probably could get away with an isky max 1. but, don't the pockets in these heads look like they've been cut deeper?
Thanks for the help guys!! I am staying away from these. I'm keeping my eyes open for vintage flathead parts for my 1946 block.
Yeah, overpriced. Specially since they've been milled a couple times and have a buggered sparkplug hole.
Kinda hard to see in these photos, but it does't look like it says Weiand to me. I can clearly make out the "and" but the first part doesn't really look like "Wei" to me.
