Recently bought a bunch of Stovebolt parts from an old sprint car guy. Bought up everything I could afford. Interestingly, I found this intake. I've seen lots of Chevy 6 hop up stuff over the years. Wayne, Nicson, Edmunds, Thickstun, etc. Never a Weiand. I even asked the guy I bought it from what's the story and he just said he used to run it in a late 50s Chevy sedan. That's all could pry from him. Any other Chevy 6 guys ever seen one of these? Of course I know the name but never seen another one. Even a google search didn't provide much. Thanks in advance, Andy from STL
Early Weiand stuff is rare in general. Don't know why...maybe then it costs $5 more? Who knows. They made parts for many different applications...just hard to find now.
Had one on a '46 panel truck, factory 216 w/ low miles. Had 2 electric choke BXOVs, headers, Gotha rockers, & dual points. Ran as good as any 235, drove it 65 & 70 with 10w oil - never had a moment of trouble.
Yes, I've got one. I believe that it's the only piece of speed equipment that Weiand ever made for early Chevy sixes. Mine looks like yours, but a few years ago, I saw a Weiand dual intake for 216/235 at Hershey that had a different appearance, so they must have made a change at some point.
