Does anyone KNOW the weight of a 425 Nailhead compared to a small block chevy? We're setting up our chassis and the front spring was designed for a small block. When we installed the Nailhead, the front leaf spring flattened out. Any guesses? Thanks - Speed City

I thought I remembered a 401/425 being around 734 lbs. dressed out. Car nut says 685 lbs. It says a SBC is 575 lbs. Sit looks to be a tad over 100 lbs. difference.

Never seen a listing for a Nailhead at 734lb. I can only assume that would include accessories such as p/s pump. a/c compressor, alt, etc...
I have always seen 635-685lb for the Nailheads (earlier were supposedly the lighter ones) although I have never taken the time to weigh one.

I actually weighed my 401 before installing it in my '33. Decked out to include the alternator and pullys, it came in at 654 lbs (Offy dual quad and sanderson headers....both saved a lot of weight over stock cast manifolds).
