Using a simple, single wheel weight scale on the front of my T each front wheel weighed right at 300#. Now, that's the total of sprung and unsprung weight and the engine is a 300#, all aluminum Olds.....your weight may vary!

I had to go heavier on mine due to the weight of the hemi. I am running a suicide front, but when I built the frame, I went a little more heavy duty on that to compensate for the motor. You really do need to have it figured for the motor/trans that you will be running first.

  8. I weighed the BFD at Bakerspatch and it weighed in at 1680lbs drippping wet... but it is a stripped down, skinned to the bones, race car... add to that, rear suspension, cooling system, inner structure for the body, glass, steering column, seats, front brakes, a tranny that weighs more that a powerglide, steel wheels instead of magnesium and anything else I forgot... and you're probably looking at 2000lbs for a roadster, easy... and I would venture to say that 65% of that is on the front wheels...

If I was you... I'd just phone up posies or Speedway and ask them what the rates on their front springs are... come up with some goofy reason as to why you're askin'(other than you need the info so you can get a spring done locally [IMG] )
