I've always set up street cars at same angle as crankshaft centerline angle. Was that not right??

May not be a bad plan.

Same angle as rear of trans so yes. For a street car is fine, but can lower the angle for racing some to compensate for movement under accel.

Made some more progress today on mocking things up. Got fuel lines made from pump to Regulator & picked up a pair of Cleveland/Yates Exhaust flanges with starter tubes about 20 min West of Byron. Had to do some intake grinding to get cap/distributor to fit. Starting to look like an engine! [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    So this happened tonight:
And I also was able to get the driver's side coil spring out (not too bad),and the new replacement in.
    Check this out:
Doesn't look like much of a difference, does it?Free height difference is only about an inch and a half overall, but the old wire was original stuff, that had become pretty tired.
The new coils,on the other hand, are not only taller, but slightly heavier wire....This amounted to a high pucker factor when installing.[emoji85]
Using an air ratchet to run it down quicker ( like the instructions for the spring compressor specify not to),didn't work for very long.Stalled the ratchet almost instantly.[emoji53]
From there on out,it was me cranking on a big ratchet to sink the thing a little more...After much anxiety, and a half dozen tries after inch-by-inch progress,it finally went in.
It's now 3:05am,and I need to get home and have a shower. The baby will be up in 2 hrs.[emoji45]
So the score for tonight is:
    -2 leaf springs removed
    -rear housing removed
-driver's side shock and coil removed
-new driver's side Shock and coil installed
    -passenger side shock removed
    -scared
The shit outta myself with sketchy spring compressor antics
-pooped in 5 gallon pail cause house was locked

    To recap:
    I'm still alive,shop didn't burn down,car is still a broken down mess,but we'll try again tomorrow.

    Night fellas.

    Scott

There's a "gift basket" coming for the Panneton Bros Okie Doker Smoker, and another one headed out to Jackson for the truck.
Can't wait to see you guys run this year.I think everybody's gonna get their attitudes adjusted by those two cars....Just a hunch I've got.Ric and Jackson have both been too quiet.....[emoji85]
