Ric what if you had someone put a wrap on the car to ressemble the other car, than if you wanted to go back just pull it off? Instead of a permanent change, if that's possible. Or not just speaking out loud.

  2. Never thought of that. Pretty good idea, but feels kinda cheesy. I guess its no cheesier than trying to turn it into a car that its not.

    Way Cool

Scoop on backwards before cowl induction, must have been paying attention to Smokeys Nascar.

Looks like the rear axle is bent or the driver side Slick is flat ?
Might be the angle or the shot?

Any more pictures of this one?

It's the way the pic was taken of the original. He is sending me the original so I can scan it properly. Sticky Doo, you haven't seen these? The first one is C/Gas '63 March Meet. The other is B/Gas San Fernando '67. You are right on about the cowl induction. Smokey Yunick was my dads hero, and he pointed out that there was more pressure at the base of the windshield. With a forward facing scoop like that, the wind hit the hood, and bounced over the scoop, and landed in the wind shield packing up against it, and is driven downward, the reason Chevy put the vented panel there to feed the foot vents. That's why we run ours backwards, Gene Cromers Willys has a backwards scoop too. A short forward facing scoop on these old cars, is just going along for a ride, and not much else.
PS. You just got bent housing fobia man!

Ha, Ha...Very Funny. We will be there, that is all I can promise. Whether we can squeeze a 12 second pass out of the stupid supercharged 600 plus hp Austin or not....is still up for debate! LOL But hey...what ever it does, we look super cool doing it.:p

I welded a metal strap that goes around the springs at the back it's not tight so the springs can still have some movement, I don't think the rear half should be clamped, at least not tight anyway.

Agree with unclamped rear of the spring. Did it on my OT class racer Ford Cobrajet and it worked great just like the Mopar S/S springs that started this.

  18. By this time, our dad had built a 401" small block Chevy that would run upper 10's in the high 120's. Our home track was San Fernando aka "The Pond", which had a short shut down, and the car weighed just over 3000 lbs with driver, and had no front brakes. Instead of spending more money at Deist for a chute, they went to Joe Factor Sales (army surplus store) in Burbank, and got that big Shute, for a song and a dance.

I know but availability makes strange things happen. It was in another project that went by the way side runs great good power just ugly. I have been considering a big block ford but not sure I have the time or money to get it done before the meltdown. There were so many really cool cars last year I just wanna be part of it. Being a spectator was great I can only imagine what it will be like with a car.

BBF - Boring ... leave the odd ball mill in the Mo-Chero !!
Bring the car, make a hundred laps, have fun... pretty simple. Not changing something that currently works would be a few dozen less things to do before Meltdown... (I can't believe I just gave that advice...)
