I need opinions, I just finished notching the rear of my 51 Chevy and have started to add the sheet metal to the trunk floor when a friend of mine came over and told me (a little late for his opinion) that i can not weld my trunk floor to the new notch because it will eventually crack from the body moving while making turns.
Is this true? has any one come across this problem. I'm not racing this thing. and the stock body bolts are not sloted to allow play during turns. I ***umed the reason that the frame and body were not welded in 51 is for production reasons.

I wish he would have told me this before I started.

    Thanks

  2. Your welding the trunk floor to the frame? Um, no not a good idea. The reason the factory didn't do it is because it's a body over frame, not a unibody. There is flex between the body and frame. It's designed that way.

  5. Your buddy saved your ****.
Better late than never on his opinion.
Tin bender gave you the reasons and those probably agree with what what your buddy had to say.
