Technical Welding helmet

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but do you purchase goods only from Canada?
I hear of Princess auto, kind of an HF.

 

No I don’t. However I do prefer to support a local company or a Canadian supplier if possible.
If I have a choice I will purchase a Canadian made product or an American made product instead of the cheaper Chinese one.

One of my recent Canadian purchases is from an Edmonton company that makes really great outdoor chairs and other outdoor products.
Not really relevant here but they make nice stuff.
We bought a couple of folding chairs.

If you start supporting companies like this who build products in your own country and employ people who live there then it’s a small start but it’s something.

 

Isn't it funny how people will spend beaucoup bucks on a cel phone but get their ass in a pucker when it comes to their eye health.

 

I just don't recall any cell phones being made in 'merica...hhmmm and I haven't heard of exactly where the 'US' brand helmets are actually made.
The bottom line is what you get for your dollar. Two reasonably equal products but vastly different prices simply means that either, there are too many middlemen in one of the supply chains or, a greedy bunch of corporate ceo's and/or stockholders.
Another example; I recently got a pile of steel from my local supplier and some of the pipe was stamped as mfgd in Vietnam and some wide flange stamped Russia. Obviously my supplier, who gets his stuff from someone in Portland or Seattle, buys at his best price just like his suppliers do. If they can make it, transport it and sell it at a price equal to or less than US made materials then the problem is not with them.
The trade deficit hurts, but I don't think that paying extra for a product helps resolve the issue.
