Hello. I'm thinking about welding on the rear fenders on my 48 chevy stylemaster. I tried to search, had little luck. Can someone point me in some direction to a thread or posts with pics of this being done correctly?

It's a common custom car thing with fat fendered cars. Eheine20 there is a thread, magazine article or some other article on doing that floating around but I can't remember where I saw it. Along with welding the fenders up you have to figure out how you are going to round out the junction between the fender and the body to get the smooth rounded look to it.

I've done a few. The fastest way, doing decent quality work, was to bend some sheet metal over different size tubing (for different parts of the fender to body radius') Then use a shrinker stretcher to get the curvature in it, to match the body. Then weld in sections at a time, leaving the fender bolted in place, so nothing moves. I always butte weld whenever possible, so I cut out a 12" section, form and weldin the radius, then proceed onto the next section. I had pics somewhere.....
