welding question

On a 46 ford, the front sway bar link is attached to the perch bolt. I trashed those pins taking the front apart.

I`m using new plain style perch bolts.

My question is: I need to weld a lower sway bar bracket some where. Can I weld to the perch bolt? Or should I weld to the wish bone or axle.

    Thanks, Mark

Get a new perch bolt. Try Job Lot for one - they might have a new one.

Thanks but mine are new. They are the flat top or plain style. I couldn`t find any originals so I`m using swaybar links from a Nissan Altima. I just need to weld a flat piece of metal off of somthing that won`t compramise saftey.

I`m only considering the bolt because that where the factory put it.

If not the bolt then what about the axle or wishbone?
