Okay, this is going to sound awful but from the cars you've turned out I thought you were OLD...then I looked at your profile and you're still kind of a kid (compared to some of us). Please tell me you were trying to impress your neighbor's kids and don't skateboard all the time though.

Burner for a couple
Of
Years. I
Finished my
Kids 32 had a pretty
Big setback
In my
Personal
Life. I'm
Thinking its time
To get

It's been
Almost 3 years since I shelved the willys. In that time I started a collision
Shop, which is doing well, finished my youngest sons hot rod 32 and burried my oldest son. He was only 16. I am
Just now getting my feet back under me and able to go out into the shop without just sitting there and crying. On a better note, I am
Back
On the willys. It is coming along nicely and I am happy to be beating it into submission. I will post pics as progress allows.

Actually, he was playing a game called the pass out game. He and his friends would pass themselves out by strangulation. He didn't wake up.

15. Have enjoyed the thread but shocked by your loss. So very sorry. Have 2, 20-something sons here ... can't imagine the void. Wishing you peace and comfort in the good memories.

Here's a few pics of the willys as it sits tonight. Plans are for a straight axle. 9 inch ford and a 427 Chevy. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1419131947.342111.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1419131969.461581.jpg

my condolences on your loss , we are glad you have returned , you do some really nice work and make some really nice cars

18. Jim. That willys sounds like a really great project and cool plan. Very sorry to hear of your loss. Hope you and your family have a nice holiday season. Mikey.

19. Sorry to hear of your loss Jim, as a parent I can't comprehend the sadness, albeit close family who've committed suicide. Thoughts are with you now and in time to come.
Looking forward to seeing your coupe build evolve, and trust it will be a positive influence for you and your family moving forward.

20. Jim, so sorry to here of the tragedy in your life! Sometimes a man has to get on his horse and ride away, a Willys would be a pretty good horse in my opinion.

It's hard to get at it with the speed and intensity I once had. I'm hoping to tackle the willys hard, but I got a lot of wind knocked out of
Me in the
Last year. Oh well, we
Will see.

22. I know...

I've been trying to do the same and it does get better with time.

Keep plugging away and take time to remember the blessings he brought you.

I read your post about your son and I realize the pain that I caused my mother during high school and college. Now at 57 and no children life seems like a blurr. May GOD bless you and yours during this Christmas season.

24. I knew if I waited long enough, this thread would be back.
It was something I'd kept an eye out for, so when I found it a half hour ago, I thought, great, catch up time.

Wow, got more than I bargained for.
I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Im glad the collision shop is working out, and I hope working on the Willy's can help with your healing.
I cannot imagine what your going through, but I wish you well, and hope you know that you have much support and friends here.

The season can be a little rough. My dad was murdered on New Years when I was younger, and my kid died a week before thanksgiving. I feel for your whole family in this difficult time. For me the garage is a fortress of solitude, and an arena of therapy. I'm very thankful for my rusty junk.
