i spent this past weekend bending sheet metal...
I was gonna use '54 bezels and Lee lenses on my car, but after stepping back and looking at the whole picture, i decided it was too 'stock' for the overall look.
I used 19ga. sheet, bent it up, then used 5'16 tube as the edge.
It's extended about 4 3/4" over stock at the top..

The lights...well, i'll post the finished product when i get it all together....
I need to do the pass side yet, so i may put together some sort of a tech thread with it..who knows..

Sorry about the poor quality, cell phone cam...

    Tony....

There's 4 pieces in the outer part..two small ones at the bottom, bent to give it kind of a knife cut edge to the base of the opening..
    Here it is after grinding..

  8. Oh sure...I was just thinking about doing something like this on my 53 but decided against it and was going with 54 bezels. Dammit now I gotta re-think that idea again. Definately cool taillights...way better than stockers.

  9. Nice work! As for your Cell phone, that is better than some digi cams! WHat kinda phone?

Nice job on the taillight. Definitely gives another idea for my '53. I eventually want to do some custom taillights, but for now I'm just using '54's. Maybe next winter I can work on something like that and maybe even get the top chopped. Right now I'm busting**** just to get the new motor and******* set up. I wanna' try to do a Moonglow type chop, but I sure don't have those type of skills yet, so I'm gonna have to shop around and see if I can find a shop that wants to "teach" me. Anyway, nice job and keep us updated with more pics.

Tony, the tailights are definitely right on. Your car is constantly reminding me of "the way things used to be." And that is a really good thing! By the way, you going to be at the V-8 Club swap meet Sunday? If so, see you there.

Jester, i'll should have some more pics this weekend..i've posted a bunch before, but there has been a lot of changes since i took them.
John, i may go to the V8 swap, not sure really. I know Tom has to work, so he won't be able to go..that takes some of the fun out of it 'cause i never end up buying anything anyway.
Chief, moving anywhere in this garage is a******!!
I'm gonna have to staighten stuff out soon or i'm gonna be painting myself in a corner. [IMG]

Hey Unkl, i been bustin my**** everyday trying to get it at least on the road for the 'Jam'..
I know it's not gonna have any interior, but hopefully it'll be registered, in one color, and have glass in it.

As far as the lenses.....i'm doing a little something with '59 Cady light's, it's simple, but to complicated to explain..
I'll post pics when i get them done..

I'm still gathering all the rest of the parts yet..

    Tony......

    Hey thats cool Cadlights!
Actually, it is gonna look close to that.
The curve of the housing on mine is longer at the top than the bottom, so the light's will follow the line of the opening, much like yours did.
Basically tunneling them in so the tips are just at the lip of the opening.

I have a couple other touches i'm gonna do inside the opening as well..
