  6. Dan Khan probably still has the original... if not, you'd have to get in touch with someone at Rod&Custom.

  7. I know im stressing this alot. But when ithink of hot rodding and crusing with your buddies and their cars, that pic is exactly what i think. That was always a pic in my mind. And its awesome to see that in a real picture. wish i could have seen that myself.

You might want to revise the auction description, so that the text is in a larger font size (like size 10 or 12). It's going to be hard to read the present small size font text on a smaller sized laptop screen.

  9. Somebody already put a bid in on it... so now I can only add to the description.

So what the plan for a replacement? Do you have something in mind or already started?

  11. Sam you should buy a few more of those dual intakes from Offy and fab them for the Small Block Chevy like you did,i bet they would do well on Ebay!!!! [IMG]

Money's going to pay off bills to lower the amount of money we have going out each month... and a morsel of it is going to go towards widening the rear end in my Model A so I can put the rumble seat back in it for the kids.
It's taken me 6 months to get around to selling it... and I bought my '57 F-100 under the promise to myself and my wife that I would sell something to help us out. I looked out in the garage... saw my Model A that used to be my dad's and my grandpas before that... that isn't a car I could ever sell... next up was the Bomb Factory Digger... and only half of it is mine, so I can't sell that. I have the Triumph Bob' that's in soo many pieces that I can't sell it and the '57 Ford F-100 is something I'd like to have to tow the Bomb... so the Roach Rod "lost out".

Anyone else go through a whole slew of emotions when selling a car? I need to sell it, if I could keep it, I would... I'm feeling sad that it's going, frustrated that I went in the hole to build the BFD... happy I built the BFD because it is SOOOO much fun, happy that I'm going to be able to take care of my family, and excited that I'll be able to put some money into my dad's old Model A and haul the family around and intrigued that this car may go to another state, part of the country or even to another country.

    Weird?

sam, i guess it's normal to feel bad about selling a car/truck. no one really wants to let something go that they spent a lot of time with. i went through the same deal when i had to sell my Ranger. i didn't want to sell it, but i had to. hope it all goes well.

  14. I just got the first question e-mailed to me... "Why doesn't it have a flathead or an inline 6 in it?"

This is going to be a looooooooooong week. [IMG]

p.s. I should have sent the guy a link to the HAMB and let him ask that question here. [IMG]

I love that picture of the drift. As much as I am sure you agonize over this decision, you will always have fond memories of the car and are blessed to have the talent to build it, and to replace it with your next ride. I had to make the same decision a few years back when I parted ways with my old shovelhead. It was my first bike and I had it for 16 yrars and had completly rebuilt it twice. It had takem me and my first love on our honeymoon and I had a lot of great memories with her on that bike and some without her. I haven't really missed it as much as I thought I would.

I had quite a few regrets when selling my Coupe. I was trying to sell it for the same reasons Sam had. Just trying to get my monthly bills down. Then along came the Buick.... Oh well. I should have put it on E-Bay. But the way I look at it Sam, you can always build another one. Hope you auction does well. Its a great car. I followed its build from the start.

Sam, good luck with the auction and may you NOT have to deal with any more ****-heads asking stupid questions about the csar. It speaks for itself and if they can't understand what it is saying, they should just move on to another auction. Freaking idiots!

  24. You will get over it Sam, but not right away. When I sold The nailhead powered Roadster I built a few years ago I made the mistake of offerng to deliver the car. WHen I left the guys house I was so choked up I couldn't talk for a couple of hours.

When a car is bought and then sold it will never have the same meaning as something you build from nothing into a car. It becomes part of you. Close to haveing kids but not nearly as important of course.

Lets just hope it goes to a good home. You sound like you still have enough to keep you busy, and the thought of making room in the Model A to include the whole family is very cool.

damn Sam, that's tough, if you're like me you won't forget that car for a long time.

    if ever.

it was an honor to see my HAMB name on the dash along with all the rest, could we see it one last time?

for those that haven't or them that have but just want to see it again here's a link to Sam's now famous donut

Sam, sad day, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

The only car I ever regret selling was my '59 El Camino, that was it, everything else I could't care less about.

Having said that, I'm not too sure how badly I'd be affected if I got rid of a car that I built. I think that would be a tough call to make, but then again what you learn from each subsequent build is priceless, and you can't just keep ac***ulataing stuff like I do.

Sometimes it's torture trying to keep too many things on the road.

I'm looking at the Packfors as I speak, I can't imagine what it would be like not having it anymore.

Best of luck to you man.

  27. Thanks guys...
Hey 60's Style... do you think a link to that video would hurt or help the auction. [IMG]

Would your site handle a thousand or more hits over the next week?

    Sam.

I've had probably 45-50 cars since I turned 16, and I still miss certain ones. You'll build another one to take it's place.......
