Hot Rods Well she made it home

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bruce Fischer, Nov 5, 2016.

  1. Went up and traded the Olds wagon for the 56 Chrysler Windsor today and made it back home 54 miles with no trouble {I had the wife following me just in case} Feels like the carb will need a rebuild and a low brake pedal so I will go thru them{my other Windsor didn't have power brakes this one does} The motor purrs like a kitten{has the 331 poly motor} and the trans shifted good. Looks like the motor and trans were worked on. All the gadges work, has good heat and the va***m wipers work great. Even the air scoop on the hood still works that raises up with a cable. I think did good on the trade and the Chrysler is better on gas. The guy was starting to tell me how he was going to start chopping up the Olds wagon and I told him NICELY I did want to hear was he was going to do with her, and he under stood. Heres a couple of pictures after we made it home. I am a HAPPY camper. LOL. Bruce. 001.JPG

  21. Looking good, I think you got the better end of the deal. Driving home without a problem is a good sign. Now all you need to do is resolve an issue or two and you're set.

Here is a similar mopar that I worked on last spring, gotta love a two tone more door, enjoy your new ride................... IMG_20160323_163617923.jpg

  23. Bruce glad to here everything went great on your trade. Looks like the dog approves too. The pink looks great. The rest of the car would nice in white, like Davyj's post. I would add seat belts if it doesn't already have them. If your planning on taking the grandkids with you. I did that with the Nomad. Make her safe first, and then make lots of Fun memories with it. Ron...

You'll love it ... any '55 - '56 4 door Chrysler product you can make all four doors close & latch at once is a keeper ...
I have never seen a Chrysler product that late with vacuum wipers - try running them with engine off.
You may have the variable speed wiper option - the farther clockwise the knob is turned, the faster they wipe..

Can we see some pictures of the interior and dash? You did well with that trade. Mabey the paint will clean up some. Buff it and see what happens.

  29. Congratulations Bruce. Looks like you made a great trade
