Clear RTV 'may' be the best answer.....

That's what I have, at least the ones on the front. At the rear are some 60's era Ford steelies. They haven't had a cap come off, the reason is obvious feeling the "bumps". The Ford wheels have a definite lip, or rather a groove, that the cap pops onto once it's stretched over the bump. The Wheel Vintiques wheels have a much smaller groove, I don't think the cap ever pops into it completely. I may bite the bullet and get some spider center caps, which is what I originally wanted but winced at the price. Had I known I'd end up buying 6 of the damned baby moons, lose two and ruin one, I could have bought the spiders for about the same amount. Live and learn...

 

Spiders would look good. I would try to tack a little weld bead on the back edge of the nubs and dress them down with a cutoff wheel to mimic that factory lip. Best it keeps them on then

 

I got hubcaps from Speedway. They too were made of thin metal. They would oil can. What I did was put several coats of bed liner on the inside of the caps. Made them a lot stronger.

 

I have the WV Gennie Series 14 wheels with the “innies” on my RPU
They’re better than the “outies”
With the WV 42 style caps I have no issues with getting them on or off and they stay on fine too.
Also no issues with powder coating damage.

 

I fixed the hubcap problem!

 

Now you have to repaint the wheels!

 

I'm gonna brush touch them.
